I think a huge point is Jordan Ewert joining after a very strong season with Luneberg and Ma'a coming back as well, probably trying to establish himself in that second spot to make the Olympics
I wonder if any of the college players could get some run time at VNL

Would love to see how he fairs against a big international block, as well as his passing. Maybe we'll finally see Briggs?? We're fairly deep in the middle, so I'm not sure if McHenry breaks in just yet. Interested to see if Champlin gets a real look or if this is just prep for the smaller international tourneys USA will play. Sani too.

But MA'A! ANDERSON! A HEALTHY JAESCHKE!
Finals could be a lot more fun this year, especially with the great pro volleyball season a lot of our players had.

No Mitchel Stahl? Bummer. Is he hurt or did he retire from the NT/Pro in general?

I'm sure Speraw watches professional club volleyball, especially Italy/Poland. In USA's case, since the opposite will still be a big problem(It is not expected that Anderson will have high/hard swings as of his current age, this will be too demanding), it is possible to have three outside hitters on court. Because if the opposite can not shoulder large amounts of attacking responsibility, the outside hitters will be too tired, just as we saw in last year's VNL. Plus, besides Anderson, none of the opposites have the ability to pass.
Among Aaron, TJ and Jaeschake, it looks like TJ's passing is the worst (this is just my opinion, Speraw will have his own decision of course). It is possible to let TJ play the opposite. In Lube Civitanova's case, Nikolov's passing is a huge problem. His passing is worse than TJ's. That's why Zaytsev comes in and starts to stabilize passing/defense to let Nikolov focuses on attacking. TJ can pass in some rotations, there is no need to pass all six rotations. May Aaron and Jaeschake have a better passing.
Btw, Ma'a is back and that is good. In my thoughts, his serving/defense/blocking is greater than Tuaniga, but setting location/time/rhythm is pretty bad.
Of course, this is just a piece of advice. A lot of factors will influence, and the first thing is a healthy Jaeschake... Pray everyone is healthy!!

Ma'a has played really well on the Halkbank team. He has excelled in setting, passing and serving. So glad he is back. In addition, he has been setting Jaeschke , who is also on the Halkbank team. They were a great pair for their team

Olivier? yuck. There’s no participation trophy in the NT. The guy would get yanked in every match this season by Knipe. How is he even in consideration?

Pray everyone is healthy!! i'd agree with most of this. i think defalco and aaron russell can be tried at the opposite slot, with the latter passing. it'd be interesting to see defalco and jaeschke as the starting outsides with how great they've been with their clubs this season, and aaron russell hits well on the right, so he can be tested there if it works. really just depends if there is a significant dropoff in their offense after switching sides, but i hope anderson and the backup opposites can pick it up. ma'a being erratic in setting is also what i observed, but he's better in other skill departments than tuaniga. i'd also want to see the college and new players get some playing time to plan for the future. what i love most is that a lot of them had drastically improved their serving. aaron russell being named best server in the v.league, both ma'a and jaeschke have a great service game for their club, christenson as well, and david smith also an impact server.

Yes I agree with most of what you said. Can Aaron hit at the oppo position? I feel like TJ is more used to it(he does that a lot in the club). We all do hope Anderson and the backup opposites can pick it up, especially the backup opposites, it is time for them to step ahead. There is no expectation from fans/Speraw that the opposite will get many more points as those superstars from other countries, given the current time. It is expected that they should at least get as many points as TJ/Aaron, and definitely a few more if possible(no matter through which way, block/serve) as the outside hitters need to pass. This should not be a very harsh criteria for a starting opposite for team USA, I believe. Let's see which backup opposite can pick it up constantly when facing difficult opponents(Poland/Italy/Brazil, etc), although I have no confidence in any of them at all, to be honest.
