That..... is a great question! I don't keep up with any of the Russian league stuff. Not even the Russian popper scene?

I wonder if Max Holt has a chance. So much talent in middle right now. Hmm not sure if I agree

i thought he was doing well as an opposite. obviously, he isn't in his prime anymore and doesn't hit the ball straight to the floor as much, and with the russian block being ever so tall, it's only reasonable, but he relies more on off-the-block and corner shots. anderson was consistently scoring in the 20-point mark in their matches. zenit st. petersburg, his club, was undefeated at some point in the season, but, like perugia, choked massively in the playoffs.

I think Smith and Jendryk are already locks for Paris (as long as they're healthy) did jendryk have a good club season? i thought averill was lighting up the polish league.

It's kind of wild that he has only played in Russia and Italy for his entire career. I think he had a brief stint in Korea just out of college and was supposed to play in China but I'm not sure if that ever materialized. The China thing didn't materialize. I can't remember why. I think playing in Russia was a last minute solution? I might be remembering wrong. The last international report from Lambert says Anderson moved back to OH toward the end of the season. He played OPP (good for USA?) most of the season because Poletaev was injured: volleyballmag.com/usa-mens-volleyball-international-report-041223/He actually went to China and did the whole quarantine but left shortly after for mental health wellbeing.

Yeah he played well for most of the season except for a few games after he got back from the US for holidays. He had weird point distributions for the last few games. He would score something like 8 points in one set then score 1-3 after because he wasn’t being set. His team was also unfortunate with the injuries. Kliuka, Polataev, Kovalev and Iakovlev were injured at various points of the 2nd half of the season.

I actually didn't keep up with Jendryk this season, but I feel like Speraw is very high on him versus other prospects. As long as Averill is healthy, I see him as an in.

I keep hearing this mid 30's player is done discussion.
Sports today are WAY different than 10-15 years or more ago
Matey Kaziyski is 38 and he absolutely tore up the A1 playoffs earning MVP.
One of the greatest assets of Matt Anderson .....which is a legit factor in consideration of contracts/greatness.....is he has pretty much always been available and never suffered a significant injury.
Matt still has tread on the tires and continues to craft his work. He will be integral this summer and in Paris and perhaps beyond.

What happened to Mitch Stahl? Is he injured? I could've sworn Mitch has hung the sneakers up and gone into the business world.

I wonder if any of the younger / college players will get some playing time in VNL or if they’re just there to fill out the roster

Maybe only Briggs we'll get to see, but for the rest there's too much depth at the other positions for them to get playing time.
