The Flo thing could be really bad, especially in the fall. I was hearing this morning that live sports could be the way to fill the air due to both the strikes in Hollywood (Writers and SAG). I would hope Big East administrators could work with Fox/Flo to get a few extra matches or so on FS2 at the very least.
I know football will be the primary target to move around games to fill weeknight slots, but there's the whole logistics aspect of moving a game from a Saturday to a Thursday/Wednesday night for very large crowds. Police likely have already been scheduled for the fall games, security, etc. If a football stadium is near a populated/business area, there's the whole aspect of getting people out of the area and back in, which isn't a factor on Saturdays.

League seems to be a crap shoot after Crieghton and Marq. Wonder if anyone will contend for the 2nd spot over Marq.

something that i noticed was Providence's roster is like half MadFrog kids... thats a bit weird lol
I think DePaul will have a good rebound year... they lost too many close matches last year.

DePaul was 1-6 in 5 set matches so certainly the record could look better with a few bounces their way. They were all over the place in terms of taking sets from good teams then getting whooped by lesser team. Go 5 @ Marq then lose to Providence at Home?  0-6 start is rough as well. |

St. John's has an interesting libero pickup for 2023.
Rashanny Solano Smith from Costa Rica. She was the best libero at last year's U19 Pan Am Cup and competed this week in the Central American championships and won every award (MVP, best libero, best receiver, best digger).
I dont remember her playing last summer... so will be interesting.

I would never underestimate St. John's Never? Why wouldn't you? It's probably a lot safer to always underestimate St. John's than never to. I think it's safe to always under estimate St. John's, in ALL sports. They are always the "most talented"/"most athletic" team in numerous sports. In the other two I follow, basketball and baseball, they are also just as consistently disappointing. Calling that shot is easy, sorry, not sorry. Also, before the 1st Petino comment. While I'm hopeful he'll be better, I don't think it's guaranteed either (I have my doubts, but it's also hard not to be better). |
