That’s down from the 1.8M of Wisconsin-Nebraska in 2021, right? that was 1.2 million. 1.66m for Wisc/MN+OSU/UM was the previous record OK, 50% increase with what I’m assuming little to no promotion?

Final viewership was 1.69 million That historic beatdown, especially with Nebraska being the team getting the TCU treatment, surely had an impact on the number. Yep. They always refer to that number as an average. I think I read they do a reading every 15 minutes. So the last three 15-minute blocks certainly had to see a drop off, even from volleyball fans.

Press releases will sometimes indicate what the peak viewership was, which was probably early in set 2 I would guess.

I also wonder if that average was dragged down by post-match coverage. With the match ending so quickly, ABC had like 40 minutes of filler, showing interviews and the trophy presentation. That stuff is nice, but a lot of people will certainly flip away.

I found the filler extremely compelling television.

I especially imagine that many/most Nebraska fans (i.e. the largest team fanbase) weren't too keen on watching the post-match coverage.

So the NCAA sent out a survey to attendees. One of the questions was what would you prefer next year in terms of date and television, the choices were Sunday on ABC or Saturday on ESPN2. I chose Sunday but in the comments said my strong preference would be Saturday night on ABC.
Sunday afternoon volleyball went up against NFL games that garner ~15-25 million viewers. Last Saturday night ABC aired the LA Bowl which garnered 2.2 million viewers. ESPN2 was showing UFC prelims. Why not put volleyball on ABC on Saturday night and kick the LA Bowl to ESPN2? I think volleyball on ABC Saturday night would out draw the LA Bowl.

Everything is about me Avid, everything. but slxpress said it was about me I just hope that doesn’t give bargaining leverage to Direct TV. We played a blue screen for 3 hours and this NellyNel guy in Texas ate it up. F Our ABC contract.
