Regarding the ranking points for OQT matches: Does anyone know if FIVB has changed (lowered) the match weight factor (MWF) for OQT matches? According to the official documentation the MWF should be 35, same as for the continental championships. But looking at the points for the matches played today at the FIVB ranking page that can't be right. Example: Belgium only got +5.01 pts for beating Bulgaria 3-0. If the MWF was 35 they should have gotten about +7 pts. Another example: Serbia (with 356.82 ranking points before the match) only got +0.91 for beating Mexico (with 152.26 ranking points before the match) 3-0. In Eurovolley Serbia (with 356.4 ranking points then, almost the same) got +1.00 pts for beating Sweden (with 135.03 ranking points then) with 3-0. I.e. they got slightly more ranking points for beating Sweden 3-0 in Eurovolley, than they got for beating Mexico in OQT. Yet Sweden had 17 pts lower ranking than Mexico. That can't be right if OQT and Eurovolley both are supposed to have 35 as MWF. Doing some calculations it looks more like FIVB only has given OQT matches MWF 25 in the matches from today that has been updated on the ranking page. Looks like the MWF 25 was an error from FIVB because now they've changed the ranking points for all the played OQT matches on the ranking page. I.e. the MWF is 35 and Belgium got +7.01 pts for the Bulgaria match (instead of +5.01) and Serbia got +1.27 pts for the Mexico match (instead of +0.91)...

Shannon’s to do list: (1) Find someone who can teach passing and let them run ALL practices - this is non-negotiable and, if not adhered to, bun privileges will be revoked (2) Miss the team bus before each match (3) Ensure assistant coaches have access to flammables and “go over” game plans (4) Contract short term laryngitis before any time out or changeover (5) Leave Maglio on the floor at all times now and let her run pipes so she can get more than 2.5 swings per match (6) Maybe prevent a major injury and flatten out the approach on White’s slides
Seriously, these poor women deserve a shot not just at qualifying, but at building something great 4 years from now. It was another obvious display of how our passing (other issues also but passing is the big one) will not allow us to compete with the best teams. They just can’t consistently match the OOS play of the top nations in the world. No matter what the flaws are with Winzer’s coaching, and there’s probably one or two 😂, she should be able to identify the obvious; if you don’t have the ability to do something then enlist help. There’s no shame in doing that I don’t think. Prayer should not be the cornerstone if a program

Group B (Japan): Turkey, Brazil, Japan pull two (!!) clear match wins ahead of everyone else. It is obvious the real fight will be in their individual clashes.
Group A (China): leaders China and Serbia get one more relatively easier match (vs. Canada and Czechia respectively) before they have to fight off the Netherlands and the Dominican Republic. The mini round-robin for these four teams begin on the 22nd, assuming that Netherlands and Dominican Republic don't trip up against Ukraine and Mexico.
I lowkey think dominican republic need to beat both China and Serbia to qualify, because the latter two currently have perfect set ratios...

She already has some of the best defence on this Canadian team when she’s serving.

My friend an avocado toast can out-coach winzer also like? What did gio even have to do? I’m not saying he did a bad job but when your team is just that much better on paper he didn’t have to do anything special lmao. Winzer was very bad tho. Making Busa the serving target is terrible prepDid she do any prep at all? I have to wonder...
