Canada-Dominican Republic is huge tonight. Also really interested to see how Netherlands-Czech Republic goes. While DOM was favorite against Czech, I also thought Netherlands would win. Two matchups between two teams on opposite trajectories than they expected.
NED/DOM still have the ranking advantage, but are possibly deflated knowing they already have a loss AND still have SRB/CHN remaining.
Canada can really close the gap with Dominicana with a win, AND puts them in a position where as long as they beat 1 of Serbia or China, they have a realistically good shot to qualify through this event.

Vamos Dominicanas! DR had to face the Czech's coaching brilliance, keeping the ball away from Brenda, attacking efficient spots of the court, making the DR defend the deepest parts of the court, and minimizing errors. NOW they have to deal with THE Shannon Winzer? It's just too much. OTOH, I'm very interested to see how the other teams handle Czech, particularly the NED-CZE match beforehand. Czech is definitely a team that's beat-able and can be out-gunned, but, DOM/NED/CAN are teams prone to... messy play and I could see the other 2 falling to the same fate.

Nice victory by Canada Pool A feels like its gonna be messy Serbia should qualify even with their setting situation. It's China who I think could make qualification interestingly. Right now, I assume China is more stable than the others and takes 2nd here.

Assuming no major surprises for the top 2 spots. Canada, Dom and Netherlands are in right? Obviously tho lots of things can happen to change the rankings and maybe I’m doing the math wrong lol There's only 2 spots available for CAN/DOM/NED, even if everything goes to plan. GER/BEL/THA are on the outside looking in, but not theoretically out yet. sorry, but THA is done done.

Can someone tell me what are Canada's chances of qualifying through ranking points rn? Give me the scenario run down cause isn't being 28 points behind DOM really bad?

Nobody knows, because there's an entire VNL 2024 prelim round left. They have a bit of a gap between themselves and germany, but there is also a gap between themselves and DOM.
the game vs DOM in OQT is especially important, because in a certain sense the results count for double: not only can Canada gain points if they win, but also cause DOM to lose the same amount of points.

also important is who you face in VNL 2024. Imagine getting to face a Serbia B team who already qualified to the Olympics.

I still think it's a strong possibility.
