These matches will be interesting; it's difficult to take AVCA rankings seriously this early in the OOC season (or anytime some years). So far, neither #15 OSU (3-2) nor #10 MINN (2-2) have impressed very much. I cannot feel that Oregon's ranking is based upon much more than preseason hype. SU, with Baird, was smokin' versus UT...not so much v. Rice. I'd go with Stanford 2-0, UO 1-1, OSU 1-1, MINN 0-2.

I believe Stanford is AVCA #5, not 2.

I believe Stanford is AVCA #5, not 2. Thanks. I copied that from one of the other team's schedules. I didn't bother to check any of the AVCA rankings.

I think Oregon hasn’t really been tested yet this year so far in non-conference, but I think they are a solid team with a ton of depth. They don’t play Stanford this weekend but will play them later this season in conference play. I think Oregon can go 2-0 this weekend, especially given MN’s struggles lately. I also think it likely Stanford will go 2-0. Hopefully it will be lots of high quality volleyball! This is the tournament I look forward to the most every season for Oregon. I know this is the last year, so I wonder what will replace it next season. SCO Ducks!

Evidence right now indicates that both the very experienced Oregon and Stanford squads will go 2-0, but admittedly there isn't that much evidence. But, Minny is going to be desperate for a win and clearly they have the talent level to secure one. OTOH, the Ohio St is younger and isn't as loaded as Minny, therefore it's going to be a tough hill for them to climb.

Friday’s match gives the collywobbles 🥴 well really the whole weekend but one match at a time I wondered if this was a made-up word you were perhaps inventing? Oh no: "collywobbles, noun: 1) stomach pain or queasiness; 2) intense anxiety, nervousness or slight fear". For this tournament, maybe. Fear not about the big picture: Cook is an excellent coach. I used to root hard against his UW teams.

I don't think Grace Egan will be playing this weekend. She went down in set 3 against GT on Saturday and was putting no weight on her right foot. She was in a boot after the match and was still putting no weight on it while being helped back to the locker room. I think Lauren Murphy will start for her, but there is a chance that Thorpe moves to OH and Murphy plays at Opp. I would also expect Kaitlyn Hoffman to DS for whichever one is the OH and Sarah Sue Morbitzer to continue to DS for the Opp.
My outlook for OSU this weekend is that they'll be lucky to take a set. I would love to be wrong, but they barely took a set each night against GT at home with Egan for most of those matches. This schedule is just too much of a challenge for the current state of the talent on the roster.
