Back from a terrific match đ”âđ« havenât looked at the actual stats but sure glad the Hudsonâs đ beat the Franklinâs 𩡠told Coach Sheff that he still should win that Husker match at home đ€ we shall see đł heroic battle in set 5 after disastrous set 4 by my Boilers resulted in a great birthday đ present for me (well, itâs this Sunday) đ€đ Just want to put the Franklin / Hudson stats out there:
FRANKLIN,SARAH 28 5 67 .343
HUDSON,EVA 30 7 69 .333
2 gladiators. One of them could have used a little more help.

I mentioned this Wednesday night when Londot had 33 kills (I think) and Ohio State lost: More than once, I have heard Sheffield refer to a natch when "Rettke had 30 kills... and we lost the match." I imagine he'd say and imply the same thing about tonight; relying on one player to carry that kind of load will lose you matches.

Congrats to Purdue on the win. They were better in the crucial junctures and made multiple great defensive plays.

I know what you are trying to say but this is a terrible example when the player who had 30 kills in this match specifically was on the winning team in Purdue. Itâs not good for any team to be one dimensional when it comes to offense I think this is a case of two ranked teams going at it and everyone tends to forget Purdue was the first team to take 2 sets off Nebraska this season in their gym. Tough loss but to lose by 2 in the fifth on the road sometimes that just the way the cookie crumbles

Smrekâs absence also meant Julia Orzol was back at outside hitter for the third match, moving from libero. And while she contributed a solid floor game and had a good night serving, she finished with just six kills and six errors to hit .000. âWe didnât get a lot of scoring out of Jula,â Sheffield said. âShe gave us everything she had, but that was a position we werenât able to get many points on. They were setting up a really good block on her.â
I think Sheff will be happy along with the rest of us when Julia gets back to work at libero,

I didnât watch much when MJ was out but I feel like theyâd be more successful In the 5-1 right now so they can put Julia back in the jersey?

I think you are trying to defend your position without any context what was the point you were trying to make in your original post? Cause you arenât making any sense. Is it we would rather a single player not score 30 for us cause both teams had that happen and in volleyball it doesnât matter who scores the most points this isnât basketball. It may matter for Pablo or some metrics but on the court and who wins it wonât matter not to mention it was obvious Shondell midway through the 4th stopped playing his starters.

A balanced attack is very much preferable to relying on one player to deliver 30 kills. Relying on "30 kills" is going to lose you matches. Tonight Purdue has a player go for 30 kills, and almost lost. Wisconsin had a player go for 27 kills and did lose. Wednesday, Ohio State had a player go for 33 kills, and lost. The one and only time Rettke went for 30 kills in her UW career, UW lost the match. A balanced attack is very much preferable to relying on one player to deliver 30 kills.

Here is one thing the team is missing out on when the setters don't take advantage of all the weapons they are always talking about:
BOOTH,CARTER 11 1 19 .526
Get her the damn ball. The Purdue middles had 51 attacks, The Badger middles had 32. One could argue the match was lost in the middle.

Wisconsin fan, obviously. I am frustrated with Wisconsin's performance in close matches in league play this year. Nebraska has won those, Wisconsin not, so Nebraska is going to win the league by multiple matches. Very small differential in total points, but Nebraska won the big ones, Wisconsin didn't.
