So mad I missed this match. Mai my wanted to see how Chicoine was going to do against the big Wisco block. She struggled, as one would expect from a 5'9" hitter going up against the huge Wisconsin blockers. Only hit .085 for the match. She did well in serving and defense though.

I think you are trying to defend your position without any context what was the point you were trying to make in your original post? Cause you aren’t making any sense. Is it we would rather a single player not score 30 for us cause both teams had that happen and in volleyball it doesn’t matter who scores the most points this isn’t basketball. It may matter for Pablo or some metrics but on the court and who wins it won’t matter not to mention it was obvious Shondell midway through the 4th stopped playing his starters. A balanced attack is very much preferable to relying on one player to deliver 30 kills. Relying on "30 kills" is going to lose you matches. Tonight Purdue has a player go for 30 kills, and almost lost. Wisconsin had a player go for 27 kills and did lose. Wednesday, Ohio State had a player go for 33 kills, and lost. The one and only time Rettke went for 30 kills in her UW career, UW lost the match. A balanced attack is very much preferable to relying on one player to deliver 30 kills. Is Franklin's arm getting a bit tired? I sensed that, but many variables.

The biggest piece of the "big Wisco block" was not able to play. (I *hate* "Wisco".)

I don't know that a player's arm gets tired during a match as much a the player just gets tired overall. 60 or 70 swings is 60 or 70 times jumping and then using their core, etc to swing at the ball. She did error on match point... If you mean "dead arm" like a major league pitcher, I don't remember ever hearing of that, but there are certainly many others who have a much longer and deeper historical memory for volleyball than I.

off topic but sheffield needs to go testify in front of the hague for what that program has done to TTA this season as bad as Nebraska did Hord?

I will be surprised if even a handful of NCAA matches are as tightly contested as this duel. The floor defense in the fifth set in the face of no punches pulled attacks...
Maybe am too close to its conclusion to make pronouncements but this one is an instant classic in my book
as good as it gets congratulations to all of the battle weary
the two big guns each hit over .300
all year long folks have complained about the weak B1G bah humbug

I call upon the power of the Big Red Machine: hear me o' great ones! O' Mighty Merritt! Legendary Lexi! Herculean Harper! Brilliant Bergen! Beastly Bekka! Send these Boilermakers your courage. Your brilliance. Your wrath! Let your energy flow through them so that they may come out on the other side of this battle as victors! And did! Oop 👀 yeah, you could tell in their match against Michigan. Though winning rather handily, they looked a bit low energy. :0)

Wisconsin's inability to do anything with their top talent needs to be studied I think they need more transfers. cold. But funny!

So, because I promised myself this after the Florida match, I should also make a positive statement about the badgers. They had some periods of poor play this match, especially in the 2nd and 3rd, but they made themselves competitive again the last two sets. That resilience is a good thing. They found a way and, but for a few plays that could have gone either way, they could have won the match. They have to get to the point where that balance at the end of matches slides towards them. The margins at this stage in the season are not determined by the same things as they are earlier in the season. Let me help you out: * Franklin was incredible offensively. I'm sure the plan wasn't for her to carry the entire team but guess what? She did. She wasn't even supposed to play this season and she didn't disappoint tonight. * Robinson made a HUGE comeback after 2 seta of nothing but errors. She didn't have another single error after that. She adjusted and that's important. * GG was everywhere. She's the main reason Chicoine hit for such a low percentage tonight because she covered so much ground. * TTA made a big jump on the right side tonight. Most of her errors/getting blocked came from swings on the left. * Booth's braids looked tiiiiight on TV. Gorgeous. No notes. Wisconsin didn't lose to a bottom B1G team. They lost to #3 who can be inconsistent but has been pretty tough and competitive at home. And they lost in extra points in a 5th set. I promise y'all, as happy I am for my team, Wisconsin is still a Top 3 to 5 team. Even better with Smrek and Orzoł at libero. good take!

. Tough to win there every year. In 2021, UW won the Big Ten and national championships... and lost to Purdue twice. That Purdue team got handled by pitt, but i will go to my grave thinking they should've made the f4. They were so dang good.

a good match between 2 of the top 3 in the big ten doesn’t mean the conference isn’t much weaker than normal lmao Well duhhh, I wonder how that happened...oh wait: * Best OH from Michigan State (Franklin) transfers to Wisconsin * Best MB from Minnesota (Booth) transfers to Wisconsin * Best OH from Northwestern (Thomas-Ailara) transfers to Wisconsin * Best OH from Michigan (Mruzik) transfers to Penn State * Best setter from Ohio State (Podraza) transfers to Penn State Yeah, all those teams that worked their butts off to recruit, develop, and support those players kinda suck this year, huh?
