Tough matchup for the Cyclones for a first round. I doubt we see Lily or Stonestreet tonight. Hatch is more than a capable backup to be swinging on the right, but the block won’t quite be as strong.
Should be a fun one. I’m just glad Iowa State got out of the Midwest again this year. It’s nice to travel to Lincoln, Minneapolis, Madison for fan support, but man it’s tough!

Duckworth and Gonzales remind me a lot of Brooke Van Sickle and Jolie Rasmussen, both in stature and skill set. Duckworth is a real six rotation dynamo who is all over the court and Gonzales can bring it high and hard. I haven't seen ISU and I'm hearing such great things about their pins--if they really have one of of the best OH combos in the country--how are they only a 7 seed and 4th in the B12? Is the rest of their team average?

They desperately needed some speed. I'm happy that Robyn allowed something a little bit faster. It actually isn't even much faster, it's also Kate flat out making better decisions and the passing being markedly better allowing Hawaii to be in system more times than not. I hope the Wahine continues this trend win or lose. I think every setter sets best when they are allowed run what they want to run, maybe Kate just needed the handcuffs to come off. I've never seen so many one on one's this season as Hawaii had last week.

Looks like Stonestreet practiced today. We’ll see..
And yes, she is Eric Stonestreet’s niece

It’s not that they are the best in the country - Duckworth and Gonzales were “only” AVCA All-Region last year and 2023 Big 12 FOY, respectively. 😀 But they might be the best tandem if they played in the Big West Conference instead. I don’t know how the rest of the team is, but they are just outside the Top 25. They are not particularly tall, don’t run a quick offense or serve exceptionally. So they aren’t Oregon, which is good news for now.

Hawaii is not favored in this first round match up so this team needs to play with urgency just like during the BWCT where it was win or go home and end of our NCAA appearance streak.
Been watching the videos Hawaii been putting out on social media and they look determined and ready to go. Lay it all out there girls and as always.....GO BOWS!

Middles are seniors and Stonestreet, L, a junior. We are still trying to jell but defense is good but hitters can be streaky. Serving can also be hit or miss. Cannot remember what game we missed 10 serves in one set. Doing much better as of late.

I've never seen so many one on one's this season as Hawaii had last week. Yes, also not force feeding Amber and letting her be a decoy at times. When she jumped at a quick pass over her head last weekend she sometimes took two blockers with her and left a completely open net for the pin.

How's the weather in Eugene? Heard the forecast wasn't looking good for the Pacific NW -- rain, and lots of it.
