Avid seems to think she's going overseas and they tend to know what they're talking about. But would be fun to see her in Orlando. I kind of think her first year she is a situational sub while she works on ... whatever skill (backrow defense or closing to the pins) that she needs to play pro ball. BREAKING NEWS: The Orlando Supernovas have deleted all of the social media posts re:Smrek, so avid 2.0 , as usual is correct. did they? lol

I'm surprised the reaction was that quick - they didn't even wait till the draft was over. Wonder how the "we're not signing" message was sent.

I think we're still safe to get a 2 seed in the tournament. So, we have 4 home games left vs. easy opponents over the next 2 weeks. Hopefully that's enough time to get Lola and GG back into the lineup and tune up our game. Lots of practice time opportunities as well over the next couple of weeks at home. To get to Elite 8, we'll need to win on a neutral court vs. a team like AZ State, Purdue, Kansas, Texas and such. We have shown we can beat teams of this caliber (early TX loss aside), but we'll need to bring it. If we make it past that, we'll be up against a home team like Pitt, NE, Louisville or PSU/Creighton/Stanford. If we make it that far, and we're healthy, anything can happen. Obviously, it would be nice to avoid NE or Pitt, but I'm not too optimistic about that, but who knows. I would love to get another crack at Louisville or Stanford in Elite 8. We are 10th in KPI which I believe is factored in to the seeding. Not sure we get a 2 seed. We won't get the 5/6 seed, so honestly I think I'd rather get a 11/12 seed over a 7-10 seed so we would avoid Nebraska/Pittsburgh in the regionals. KPI has not obviously been much of a factor in previous years. I've not seen any evidence the committee takes it into consideration.

Kelly ripping on PVF in his latest presser. Not happy with PVF draft happening while the season is still going on. Also, he said he's never heard from any of the teams, coaches, or GMs for PVF.
"Disappointed is an understatement. Incredibly frustrated."

If Wisconsin Wins out and Sanford loses to Louisville, who do you think gets the #6 spot? Pretty mportant IMO in terms of match up in elite 8

Pretty mportant IMO in terms of match up in elite 8 I think Stanford would need to lose to both GT (which won’t happen) and Louisville to bump them to 7. Just losing to Louisville won’t hurt them too much, especially with their H2H win over Wisconsin

In the glass half full argument, Damrow and Chan have now gotten meaningful playing time against good teams. Damrow has clearly made strides from earlier in the season, probably helped by being further from injury and being able to get more practice reps. She has put up quite a few 3 passes. I am focused on the rest of this season, of course, and I think the Badgers still have a very high ceiling, but this also bodes well for 2025. Adding Simon to the mix means the Badgers will project to have a lot of back row depth, which could ease the transition for the new to the lineup pin hitters, as they can focus mainly on front row play. With subs, maybe a rotation or two per set, if that? I have been pretty impressed by Saige so far this year. She has made big strides in her passing and defense. Chan I also like, though we haven't seen anything on the passing front. I expect they both will be enormous assets going forward. The badgers are well positioned in the backcourt for future years. But for this year, the OOS setting has to get better. We will be facing teams that are great in transition. We need to compete against them.

It's not the number of errors that bother me it's that (1) they were often 1 and done service errors and (2) the timing was always bad.

As Kelly said in his presser - our high is really high, and our low is lower than what we're used to seeing. My sense is that early in the season it was due to injuries (especially Oz) and Charlie being new and not having enough practice time as a team + the usual Kelly experimentation with lineups. We narrowed the gap quite a bit during the stretch right before Lola's and GG's injuries - we crushed Purdue, Penn State, and USC in that stretch. There were times during that stretch when we were so dominant out there with a real swagger and scary looking. But then more lineup changes led to more inconsistencies as seen in UCLA, MN, and NE matches. No news yet as far as Lola and GG being back, so we'll have to wait and see. Even if it's just Lola coming back for the next 4 games at home, should be enough time to get on a roll again. Lola's injury didn't look that bad on video, but obviously with concussions you never know. Not sure about GG and the extent of her injury, but Saige has gained some confidence and experience to step in as a DS. I expect we'll need to shake off some issues the next 2 games with Lola working her way back into the starting Libero position. Then we'll breeze through the first 2 rounds at home and head who knows where for a tough neutral court "Sweet 16" matchup and hopefully more after that.
I'm going to focus on enjoying watching this group win 4 more games at the Field House.

GG, Saige, Lola, Maile and Kristen Simon running the backcourt next season. Dare I say they have the potential to be the best group in school history?

Oh, the uber crazy Nebraska fans make me giggle. I mean, what else do they have to live for besides their volleyball team? No major league sports, and let’s be real—Nebraska isn’t exactly Ivy League material either. Nebraska has a 79% acceptance rate compared to Wisconsin’s 49% fyi I’m a twenty-something year old girl who unexpectedly lost her dad a few months ago. You can go ahead and choose maturity and peace tonight, but I absolutely will not. LOL 😂 I suggest you plant a cottonwood tree from Lincoln above your dad’s grave for better Nebraska shade. 🌳 Uncalled for, dummy.
