I looked at both of the venues. The first one (for Liberty match) looks like a gorgeous facility! The 2nd one (for Providence match) looks like it might be in a high school gym or something. So, they will be in two very different types of gyms for those two matches. Great way to start the season with a cool road trip like that...they will need all the quick bonding time as a very new team as they can get. After taking a second look, I think both matches for Iowa will be at the Mario Morales Coliseum. It's confusing because on the 31st it looks like the D3 teams are playing at the same time in another location (Academia Del Perpetuo Socorro). Yes, it has changed now. It clearly had the Iowa vs Providence match at the Academia Del Perpetuo Socorro before. Glad this ends up this way so they play in what appears to be a really great arena for both matches. Thanks for the updated info. |

Coach is loyal to his Tulane ladies They are the only 2 returning seniors as well. And the only 2 starters returning. So many new faces. But the talent level is much higher. The inexperience on both pins will decide how much they can win. Glad to hear we can watch the matches in Puerto Rico! |

Great pic! Sure, I will toss out my prediction. The only caveat is that this could go either much better or much worse...never have felt quite as unable to accurately try to predict as for this season, given the incredible amount of unknowns and newcomers. But...I am going be optimistic and go with 14-18. I think we should revisit this record-prediction exercise after the Black & Gold Scrimmage, though. That hopefully will at least give us a bit more info to go on. GO HAWKS! |

Agree that this is an extremely hard prediction with so much unknowns. Although it feels like this team has way more talent and it seems the program is ready to start moving up.
This prediction is what I think they are capable of with this schedule. Non- conference, they could go 10-2. Conference is obviously much harder but I think they are capable of 6 wins.
So possibly 16-16.

How are you “capable” of winning 6 matches this season? Who are the teams you believe you can now beat? Barnes appears overwhelmed and is not recruiting B1G level players. Almost every 2023 B1G team is better than they were a year ago. The 4 incoming PAC12 teams all have rosters that are substantially better than the current Iowa roster. I don’t know the NIL resources available at Iowa, but they certainly weren’t overused in reconstructing the 2024 team. It is gonna be a rough slog for Iowa in 2024. If Iowa wins more than 2-3 matches I would be surprised. Good luck 🏐 |

Haven't seen a B1G release yet of in-conference volleyball matches to be televised on BTN, but the updated Iowa schedule on hawkeyeports.com is indicating the Hawks being on BTN four times: Iowa @ Rutgers (9/26), Washington @ Iowa (10/4), Iowa @ Northwestern (10/16) and Iowa @ Ohio State (10/31). If this is accurate, only one home match included.
