Hopefully she learns from it. I do not know details but was surprised.

Yo, Hawk Attack, hawkfan, definitelymaybe - Help me out with the Iowa Players to Watch. I typically do five. For teams running a 5-1 I go with their leading scorers, setter, and bro. For 6-2 usually it's the leading hitters and blockers, and sometimes the bro. I confess I haven't watched much or any of the Hawks this season. I've got Garcia & Urquhart on the pins and Whittingstall & Gibson in the middle... Galles is the bro? Are they 6-2ing? HALP.

Interested to see if she plays today & is she sticks around. I was at the match today. Although disappointing to not see Malu playing, I will say that she was very engaged with the team, the match, etc. on the sidelines. I was both impressed and encouraged by that. Hope she is back on the court soon. The impact of her not being out there was sure evident in many ways. This is a credit to Malu, IMO. The way a player takes her consequences in public makes a huge impression on me. I remember at Wisco, Tionna Williams (AA) was benched for a match because of a team rule violation. Walk-on Nicole Shanahan played MB in her place. Tionna was dressed, engaged, chatting up Shanny during timeouts, no doubt offering tips and perspective on what she was seeing from the sidelines. Shanny had a great match and Tionna was the first one to hug her and congratulate her. It was really mature. I'm glad to hear that Malu comported herself similarly.

Pleasantly surprised with how they played tonight. Very balanced attack offensively. Unless it's injury related, Meitzler seems to have taken over the setting role judging by the last few matches.

Also pleasantly surprised with how solid the Hawks looked tonight! And I agree about Meitzler. To me, Ammeraal just didn't look herself when she returned to the court for those few matches she played after her injury. I also think Meitzler puts up a consistently hittable ball...really great hands. Would love to see her become more aggressive offensively, but we are SOOOO fortunate that she is on our roster! Let's see if the Hawks can put back-to-back solid performances together and possibly come away with another B1G "W" on Sunday against MSU.

(Every time I think of her unfortunately, I remember back to her talking smack in the fifth set against top ranked Minny when we were way up in the 5th, then the Tapp sisters and Co got mad and took it to us 😏🙎🏽 - lesson learned and now she is a championship coach!)

Interview with Malu Garcia talking about why she came to Iowa from Hawaii, about her volleyball future and also how she wants to help build the future of the program. We are SO glad you are a Hawkeye, Malu!
