Love your uniquely-qualified insight into Galles and your confidence in her...thank you! So excited to watch her contribute signficantly for the Hawks this fall! Sounds like we found a gem in Joy. she’ll definitely be an upgrade in ball control for y’all! she passed next to some terrible passers last season and still held up. I’ve heard Malu is holding up in serve receive pretty well too, so hopefully she plays in like a 6ro passing opposite role and Joy has another passer to lean on. Joy is super high on Claire like all of y’all are too btw This is great to hear, uofaGRAD. Thank you! Sure welcome any other scoops you might hear., too. Especially intrigued by who will emerge as our top options on the left. Love learning this about Malu. I just think she has immense upside and if she can contribute asap to the level I believe she can, she could truly emerge as a key lynchpin for the program's improvements over the next few years. Go Malu!!!! And wonderful to hear about the thoughts on Claire as well. However things shake out, I am getting excited to see what happens this fall. GO HAWKS!

Hearing reports Galles played lights out and the Hawks look like they will go undefeated this season because no one can get the ball to the floor against Galles. Nice! What else are you (or is anyone else) hearing about how today's scrimmage went? Anyone in particular stand out?

And I believe they had "media day" either before or after the scrimmage yesterday. Anyone see/have any links to some of the interviews or to Coach Barnes' comments? Only seeing some pics and a couple of snippets out there on anything, strangely enough.

Yes, saw that, but thanks for still sharing it as well as that news story. Really most interested to hear what Barnes had to say, what questions he was asked, etc. Maybe there would be some insight from him about how practices are going, how team may be coming together, who may be standing out, etc. And here are pics that show how the teams were split up. From what I can tell from these, I don't think there was an "A" squad and "B" squad...but suppose I could be wrong.

Love hearing Davis talk. Wow, did you see that angle shot by Malu? Lefty setter to lefty rightside looks lethal. Sounds like there is much more depth at every position. Also, much more athleticism with the defense and blocking. Everything I’ve heard has been extremely positive about this teams teamwork and work ethic. Galles at libero and Ammeraal at setter are major players.

Ammeraal at setter is the real deal, was super fun watching her, although Metzler was really good as well. Middles looked solid and as seems to be the common theme on this thread: which physical pins will stand out and be terminal as the year goes on is the question. Maybe could see going as physical as possible and both OHs being DS’d as it looks like Deery and Garcia look capable of playing 6 rotations. Either way, looks like it will be fun to watch this young team develop as the yesr goes on.

Think this all shows a greater level of depth this year., which we definitely had recently. Any particular OHs stand out on the left to you? You're right: we need fearless, terminal swinging there! I will say that I think Phills has a very high ceiling, from what I have heard and seen.

Worden definitely was the more polished of that group and loved her energy. But all 3 touch 10 feet or higher so the ceiling is high and will see how the freshman grow being in the gym everyday.

I heard Urquhart and Worden might have on opposite sides of the net, but there wasn't certainty.
