Weird, indeed. And offensive. And inaccurate. And misplaced to be given "press" in this thread. There are other threads going off the rails on this topic...let's stick to talking about the Hawks in this one, please.

Let's hope they can turn things around in this 2nd match and regain some of that energy they previously displayed. But even if they do, cannot understand how it waned when it did in the first place. I get it that there are going to be bumps in the road with such a young team, but to appear to not control what they can control (factors I listed above) is concerning.

They have a shıtty coach (hanmertime) who spends his time on Volleytalk asking us what the portal rules are (oh and posting “I’m so offended” snowflake things when his team gets beat.)

I’ve tried for 22 years to be an Iowa fan. They’re just not going to get better until they hire a decent human who is also a decent coach to lead the program. Jim Barnes peaked at Tulane; nothing going beyond a good transfer setter (that he didn’t actually recruit) on his team right now.

Looking forward to it, and as you say, there will be some good competition.  The St Thomas game will be interesting.  We bested them in the spring, but they did take a set or two from us and were very competitive.  ISU was a bit tougher.  I don't think we took any sets from them last spring.  We will need to bring our A team and maintain intensity and consistency.

ISU will be a challenge with them coming off the Illinois loss. They'll be ready & have a good crowd. St Thomas has lost to DePaul, Southern Indiana, & Bradley. That's setting the bar pretty low 😂

Rivalry week. Wonder if the game will be as close as the football game. This would be huge for the Hawks after losing in 5 last year.

Hoping for a good showing tonight for the Hawks. This one could be tough...guess we'll see. If nothing else, hope to see energy and fearlessness from this young team in a difficult environment. Key preparation for what they'll see much of in B1G season.

In-state rivalry game got me thinking about our 3 players from state of Iowa (hope that # increases soon...ISU only has 3 on their roster as well!) and am hoping Lombardi and Prescott are ok. Believe have seen them not dressed for much of this season so far. Olivia is in a boot, I think? Ugh after being out last year as well for her. And I know this match means a lot to Deery as well, given her (and her family's) deep Hawkeye roots.

I’m not sure I’ve ever seen worse volleyball at the D1 level than Iowa that set. That was embarrassing.
