Maybe I spoke too soon about Heinrich. She is following Ferguson so maybe there is still some communication going on there

I really think our next round of targets really needs to be setter and libero. I think that middleis fine with Alexis, Sadie, and Taylor. Schutter will continue as a reserve.
I am interested in what happens with Thorpe/Peymon.
Mike says in the article that Thorpe is training on the LS and RS....I assumed that LS would be Mabrey and Safi/Emani....

Still following Delanie Maple. Any update there? I doubt we’ll hear anything about her until after the beach season is over. So probably not until May-ish

I think this is correct bvolley17.
I think Maple is ours. Very strongly think so. However, I do think she still had some other options she was looking at but Id be surprised if she doesnt end up here. She loved the staff and girls and vibe of campus.
This is a decent looking roster to make some moves up in the ACC ranks. We are again loaded at the pins, even more than last season. Numerous LS and RS options.
Middle should be decent. Alexis is solid but I dont think Swift is a lock anymore. She is going to be challenged by Taylor who can be offensive, whereas Swift is more defensive. That may be a season long rotating door with if we need offense vs. defense.
I thank that Eisert will be a very good addition and wonder if we do run a 6-2 with Thorpe and Yardimici now.
Again, the last thing that is stoppiung us from being a top tier team is the back row....we need to ensure a good libero transfer and I do think May can thrive in a DS role.

I would assume we'll run a 6-2 given that we're so pin heavy and the quality of the transfer setter. I doubt any Conference Setter of the Year, especially one who has over 3,000 career assists over her four-year career, is going to sit on the bench for a year. Plus, I do not think any of the middles on our roster are going to be able to run the slide consistently and effectively enough to run a 5-1. Taylor is athletic as hell, but her highlights do not show a slide, so it may take a bit of time before she's going to be ready for that.
If we get into a subbing issue, or injury, the 5-1 would probably keep Yardimci in as the OPP (unless we need Thorpe's blocking), given her ability to pass and play back row. I do not know how good her numbers were, but she was a six-rotation RS at Miami for a bit, and she transitioned to the left, too. So she has a lot of experience passing and running offense out of the back row.
Apart from the libero/passing issue, my biggest question is who is going to be our O2? Will the "sophomore jump" push Safi ahead of Emani'? I think it might... I thought Safi showed so much potential and for a handful of games was just flat out really good. I also think she has the most promise playing back row than Mabrey or Emani'. But you can't lose Mabrey's serve... And I think having someone as experienced as Emani' on your bench to fill in when someone is having an off day is unbelievably useful. I thought Emani' was good for a set or two, but never seemed to be really good for an entire match. I think that role may be best for her.
Also, I simply do not think Mabrey was 100% healthy this year. I hope she comes back at the level we all expect of her. Even so, she was first-team All-ACC again. But her back row play and energy on court need to elevate for us to be really successful.
This program desperately needs to have a good year. Adding in Stanford and SMU isn't going to make climbing out of the bottom half of the ACC any easier. And this coaching staff is going to have to show they can recruit, and pick up some talent in the 2025 class.
