Gotta give props to the coaching staff. From team development and the transfer bought in, they have done a good job turning around this program. The culture is better and the volleyball IQ is better. This will greatly help with recruiting in the next few seasons. Unless I have my formulating wrong...if we take care of the teams below us, we should be solidly in the tournament at this point. IF we are able to swipe a Stanford, Louisville, Pitt, SMU match we may have a slim shot of hosting still.
Massey: #21 (Up 5 Spots) Evollve: #33 KPI: #15!
Still need to work on getting the middles, namely Jackie, more involved on offense, but we are playing some really good volleyball. I am so glad we have Safi and Thorpe for two more years.
Any idea on if Yardimici is eligible to redshirt? She only played in 4 matches I believe before injury...she could slide into the R2 spot next year nicely....

I wish UNC would get the Taraflex flooring. It is pathetic that mid-major teams in the Sunbelt have it and we don’t. Preach. Carolina blue would look awesome. I don’t think we’ll host this year obviously with our back half schedule being a gauntlet. But starting this year you can’t host if you don’t have it. So someone will have to invest in it at some point in the near future in the event we get back into the Top 16 regularly (Still a long way to go for that, but just saying and being hopeful). Would love Taraflex! I think we have POTENTIAL to get back to TOP 16. We lose obviously one of the best in program history in Shaff, but we have some solid arms coming in and I believe that some transfers will see what we have done so far this year with the portal and we may see better interest in higher quality players. Interested to see how we can do against Ga Tech/Stanford at home.

It will be interesting to see what we do in the portal. I would love for this team to knock off GT on Sunday. This will be the best team we have played though.

I actually think that FSU and Miami are better than GA Tech....Ga Tech is banged up on the RS and Setter position. I think FSU and Miami are well rounded teams in all positions. We need to handle Clemson Friday, but if we serve tough I dont see GA Tech beating us. They struggle to terminate on the OH when OOS and cant use the middle. I really like the athleticism that Bridget Malone has. Not saying she is replacing Mabrey but she will be a good outside hitter for us. i also am interested to see how we fill gaps with the portal.

Stayed at No. 25 in the rankings… FSU dropped to No. 23.

This schedule is really great to get to a 5 or 6 seed, with the home matches against Miami/Ga Tech/ FSU. Unfortunately it’s not good for seeding because we are going to get that brutal away streak of Pitt/SMU/Louisville on the road, and with a weaker non-conference a marquee win would really help. Also sucks that Duke is our travel partner rather than NC State, NC State would’ve given Stanford more to think about.
Still, there are some very vulnerable seeds outside the top 10 UNC could get sent to if they just take care of business. And the matches against tough conference teams now that they’ve built confidence will be great for prep.

We beat Clemson 3-1 but didn’t look great doing it. As I explained to a friend of mine, there’s a reason we didn’t jump in rankings last week. We are talented and have good chemistry… and good at home. But we still have a ton of areas to improve: BLOCKING, serve receive (particularly Safi), and setting. Our setting at times is good but last night it was too tight and too low and we got blocked a lot.
RPI will improve with Miami beating Stanford! I think our ceiling right now is No. 20. I’d love to see us as a top-16 team. We’ll see how we come out against GT on Sunday (Duke pushed them to 5, but Duke did that to Miami, too).
Also, I’d love to see Julia come in and play back row for Safi. I actually think we could take advantage of the libero rules and have Julia sub in for Taylor (we already serve sub for her so much already) and then have Maddie libero for Safi. Then when Mabrey goes back to serve, Maddie comes out for one play again to reset the libero sub (which, with Mabrey’s serve we don’t always need defense) and then comes back in for Julia. Texas is doing this with Akana, Skinner, and Singletary.

Missed the game for a work thing. How was it? Sucks to get out first home loss of the year.

Missed the game for a work thing. How was it? Sucks to get out first home loss of the year. This game frustrated the h*** out of me. We needed to win this game to better position ourselves in the ACC and the NCAAT. I feel like we let an opportunity slip against a team that is currently makeshift. It is working for them so hats off to Collier and CO. 24-23 first set. Lose on a Boehlinger service error. Inexcusable. 21-19 UNC led in the 2nd. GA Tech goes on a 6-1 run because we couldn't pass or terminate. Set 3 and 4 were legit. Set 5 we dug a hole for ourself and couldn't terminate. This was a winnable game. We just didnt take care of the fine details we needed to and GA Tech "out scrapped" us. In the grand scheme of things no one can say we do not belong in the Top 25 and we dont deserve the recognition we are getting. We played toe to toe with #16 and actually outhit them by 70 points and scored more points, and even outblocked them a lot. Last year, 2, 3, 4, 5 years ago this was a sweep. This team fought back to have a chance to win. Proud of that even though its a loss. Next weekend does not get easier at all. SMU at SMU is tough, but they do not look as sharp to me currently as they did a few weeks ago. Hopefully we can pull an upset. We aint doing it at Pitt LOL

Hello.
There seems to be some confusion.
The UNC/Pitt game is going to start at 6, not 7. There is a basketball game that night, so the start time had to be moved up to accommodate traffic. The fieldhouse is just up the hill from the pete, and cardiac hill doesn't handle traffic very well.

Rough, but not an unexpected weekend of results. Sure wish we wouldn’t have dropped the match to GT before this weekend.

Today is signing day for many athletes!
2025 we will sign Sienna Coza and Bridget Malone. Malone is going to be fun to watch on the LS for the next 4 years. Stud.
