Can we be done with how tall wBower is and for that matter be done talking about her. She graduated!
So I know we are in season and gotta worry about that but I would like to continue on the vein of libero/ds types and recruitment. I saw that tingey has some hs honors. I haven't seen her play. I'm wondering if she's a player that has been lib her whole life? How dynamic is she? How well does she makes reads? I already know she's taller, so let's not address that. How's her s/r passing? Hkws her serving? Or maybe if all the people who comment here are parents, then no one is gonna wanna talk about a new recruit.
I also want to set the record straight. Being good at jumping or moving fast doesn't make you good at volleyball. Being good at volleyball makes you good at volleyball. So im far more concerned about positional traits/skills that the players have developed. So that's why I question when someone, anyone, just says that a player is the "best athlete" as in the case of Lee.

I know I said I would not post any more on this topic, but when someone accuses me of lying, I cannot let it stand. You totally missed the point on your #1; your #2 is irrelevant to any point I made; you totally missed the point on your #4 and in fact undercut your own argument; #5 shows that you make up statements about players' heights, this time regarding Livingston. You also continue to insist that Alex Bower is only 5’9”, but the BYU team photo shows her almost as tall as Macy Short, who is listed at 6’ even, and at least 2” taller than Kaieva Johnson, who is listed at 5’8” (as she was at Utah). The team photo can be found at the top of the BYU Roster page for everyone to see for themselves at this link: byucougars.com/sports/womens-volleyball/rosterRegarding your other points: marnvbc2: McComber, despite your lie that you said she said she was offered a scholarship by BYU out of HS on the Y podcast, wasn't offered and you are outed again. me: I said she was offered by BYU out of HS (at least a walk-on spot), I never said a scholarship. Here are her own words that can be found in the Her Y podcast that I will link below: At about 40% (at about the 12 minute mark) of the way through the episode: “My sophomore year, I was at a combine and I got looked at by Washington State and BYU. I was given the opportunity to go visit both colleges, and ultimately, I chose Washington State at the time…” She then goes on to discuss why she chose to join Washington State (as opposed to whom, if it wasn’t BYU, the only other school that was looking at her and gave her an opportunity to visit?). marnvbc2: Another flat out lie by you is that McComber says in her own words that she visited BYU as a HS player, on her Y podcost… You just lied to all the readers here me: I said “she made campus recruiting visits to both BYU and Washington State.” I should have said that she was given the opportunity to visit both colleges. I assumed she took both visits. From her podcast, it is not clear whether she made the visit to the BYU campus. Yes, BYU missed on her but did not “overlook” her as you claim, which was my original point. The BYU thread is by far one of the most strange I mean, it's almost entirely due to marn, one of the worst posters on this board. I'd actually say they're the single worst for volleyball-only posters. |

Aside from Marn’s destructive behavior, let's talk about what's going on with the girls. Today's loss to Utah was difficult, but it clearly demonstrates and exposes our weaknesses. We clearly need another pin to step up and assist without Little. Passing was a struggle and you can feel the dynamic is off without Little to lean on.

Little being absent was not the reason Utah won the match. They can pass and s/r ... what did Utah have 8-9 aces? How about that vaunted libero of ours. I actually thought Benson played decently given it is her first real game experience in a pressure situation. Bobik looked ok but Bower's defense is suspect as is our passing .... Miller didn't play much, Billiter had a very poor match, Johnson didn't do too badly, Lulu was very average and with Claire out BYU just didn't stand a chance. Satuala is an excellent athlete and how she got over looked by Weber, UVU, Utah and USU is a mystery to me. It would be nice to have Jardine on the BYU roster, and Giladlo is the best pin in the state and that includes Claire. I don't think the Utah team is build for the future but right now they are poised to make a NCAA tourney run. Arizona beats KU? BYU is closing in on 10 losses this season. They might get there before the NCAA's.
