I agree that it was a little humorous that Gant kept her mouth shut on the comment about missing Little's passing! Utah just played great. That was probably their best match of the season. I thought they would miss that Burgess MB when she transferred to Oklahoma, but I am not sure they do. Passing averages can be found on the vmetrics .... that is what I look at. Johnson (despite the V owner being sore about it) is a decent passer. She isn't great, but if you look at her stats at Utah last season she was better than average in the Pac 12. Do I think she is libero quality, no I don't. Miller is probably not good enough to have been recruited. I shake my head at that decision which was influence by the Carlson guy at V. Nevertheless, BYU just has to find a way to identify passers in recruiting OR grab 2 off the transfer portal. IMO there is less risk for Heather to just go to the portal. As soon at the portal opens I will point some out who can immediately change BYU's program. BYU also needs a top OH who is capable of playing 6 ro. That will be hard to lure one away from going to a better program (everyone wants one) but they could go down to Mid majors and pick off a good one. The other weakness is at Opp. BYU is at their best when they have a dominant Opp. How do you get one? That is why I want to get Lee reps and time out there. Prior isn't it ... although better than Grimmer. Kenzie and Hamson are the mold. Grammar Marn... seriously, no one's here for grammar. Quit deflecting and getting personal. We aren't here for that garbage. Class it up. Onto the content, I'm hopeful that Tingey ('25) is a straight up talented lib with great passing and defense but I've asked twice now if anyone has seen her play and it's been crickets. Suli ('25) is a great oh coming in and Blairmes ('25) is a lefty oppo who jumps out of the gym. We gotta stay healthy this year. These adds for next year are hopeful. We gotta keep working on our serving. Everyone likes to say how we can't pass but you get better at passing when you serve great. Plus ofc we want serve great to take others out of system. Conversations between gibadlo and little is an interesting one b/c all things being equal... maybe you could figure it out. Say if they were on the same team. I love gibadlo and her explosiveness but legit little gets things done in difficult positions. Again I go back to my comments about Lee, generally being explosive and athletic ally dynamic does not make the best volleyball players. Anyways, little and gibadlo are both excellent and it would be fun to see gibadlo at byu. One can only dream. Haha Gibadlo and Little would be a really good set of OH's. Utah will be down substantially next year based on graduation. The question becomes whether or not Gibadlo would move to a program she probably views as inferior to her abilities? She will also be lured by top 16 programs and I don't know that she wouldn't be better off to go to one of those. BYU has to solve its passing issues. Without naming names, BYU has 4 back row passers on their program and 8 pin hitters. They didn't need 3 setters if they hadn't booted Damuni off the team. So they carry an unnecessary player at the setter position this year and next year. They also carry 4 MB's. I have been saying for years that they don't need and shouldn't carry 8 pins. They only need 5 or 6 particularly in a 5-1 offense. 2 or 3 additional passers need to be on that roster. Especially when some of the MB's can move over to pin in practice..... Lee! Why don't they just do that? It they did this the problem will be closer to being solved than it is now. I mean Billeter was a OH when she arrived ..... and Erickson and E Bower (Callahan and Stowel) were not good enough to play at an elite level according to Heather. It is just a head scratcher for me. Ironically, if you could combine the Utah and BYU programs they would probably win a national championship this year. Utah, for as up and down as they are, can simply identify passers. They aren't as good at MB as BYU is. Both have the ability to get good OH's although BYU is a little better, but Opp's are better at the U. These 2 programs are opposites of each other. Over the long run I would rather be at BYU because of the inability of Beth to stay at a high level year over year.

BYU should stay in the top 25 this season with all the remaining matches being very winnable. KU probably won't be a win but all the rest of the matches should be.

Eight pins has never translated to eight actual pins. They seem to always be morphed into other positions or are just rostered players that don't find time on the court. BYU has so many players that seek their program and the school is so affordable that they have had the luxury of having a larger roster than a lot of programs. Simply, players are willing to take walk on spots or partial scholarships just to be on the team and at the school. Wonder what it would be like if there were two BYU schools and there was competition for all the LDS players. We will never know but we will see a BYU Program with less rostered spots starting in 2025 with the advent of the roster cap of 18. It will be interesting to see what players are given priority. Also with the roster cap, more scholarships will be allowed if allocated by the athletic department. Will liberos be given 4 years of funding? Will all players be given full scholarships? Time will tell but that may very well bring in more and better passers or who knows, more outside hitters.

To your point of another LDS school recruiting players - I would be willing to bet that if UVU actually hired a coach who was all about winning she/he would start making huge in roads into the BYU circle of volleyball influence. I mean UVU doesn't have a football team and if they were smart, they would pick one men's sport and one women's sport and give them more funding ... enough to compete with say a BYU women's volleyball or men's basketball/baseball etc. It would keep BYU honest and alert in their roster decisions in vb for sure.
