scratch that 65 total team errors. yikes lol and still almost won. 13 per set. Wade an Co is going to be scratching their heads in disbelief looking at the stat sheet and be shocked at how competitive we were.

And btw, with Charlie keeping Tread in there because he is our future....can he also finally come to the same mindset and do the same with Louis as well. Tbh, the Thiim experiment minus his serve isn't going to get us no natty. But with Chakas out permanently, Charlie needs to look into the future and treat Louis just like he does with Tread. Let them both take their lumps this year and learn. Because they are our future. If Sakanoko can shore things up this season and in the off season....I like both him and Roure at the Left side holding it down. I do think it's a little different with the outside hitter position vs the setter position. I think that all 3 men have staked their claim to the two slots and I think that battling it out enhances that position as well. If the spot is just given to one of them, then the others lose out on the ability to compete for it and the starter may not work as hard. I do think that Chaz is in an interesting position being that this is his final season and as banged up as he is but being the most experienced out of the trio. That may issue may influence Charlie's decision.

Thiim is Charlie's preferred option because of his serve alone. We all know it which is why Sakanoko will be the one off the bench unless Chaz is injured. I say give Sakanoko a chance.

Louis came of age. The young man had 19 kills, 9 digs and only one RE in 4 sets. Choy had 9 digs in 5 sets.
Once the dude get more practice time and limit his mistake, he could be as impactful as any freshman we ever had. Maybe at the other OH position, Chaz and Keoni need to battle in out. Keoni can sometimes be impactful but his size make him fatigue in a heavily contested match.
LB was the best blocking team in the country and Louis was still able to pound 19 kills off them….some in spectacular fashion that even the LBSU fans were oohing and ahhing.

scratch that 65 total team errors. yikes lol and still almost won Dont forget that the Beach directly created 19 of those errors on the stat sheet Coverage on our hitters was sub par. 14 SE’s between Thiim and Sakanoko alone. They are good production wise, but the errors come at the most crucial moments. Change a few of those SE’s and give ourselves some rally’s to work with, and maybe a different outcome. But I like what I’m seeing from them as a whole, moving in the right direction!

It's just hard to leave an outside in who is struggling because they have so many responsibilities. They need to receive full time as well unless you have an opposite that can handle service reception duties. Some nights "taking lumps" might mean making unforced hitting errors/service errors or it can mean being in the shank tank on serve receive. That is tough to just leave it and let happen especially since there are two spots platooned by 3-4 athletes. Louis is inconsistent on all fronts. If he shores up these skills, he becomes a player that is on par with someone like Spyros. All that aside, I was very impressed with Louis. He has all the tools and is potential star in the making.

But I like what I’m seeing from them as a whole, moving in the right direction! Oh yes I agree that the service errors and hitting errors helped the Beach's cause but their blocked created a lot of pressure. I think that many games can boil down to the scenario of "flip a few errors and it's ours." But that's what makes the Beach's net pressure and efficiency that much more impressive in this match. It wasn't just clutch, it was there all match. Now the offensive production from Hawaii was excellent despite the errors. I didn't realize that they were scoring with that kind of volume since the errors can be hard to watch and is consuming for the viewers.

He is inconsistent because he isn't given ample opportunity to play in these high pressure type of matches because he has to sit behind Thiim. Thiim is out there mostly for his serve and his Charlie's preferred pick. Thiim making multiple bone headed errors too but he the upper classman here. What is Thiims excuse and why is he allowed to let that slide many a time? Sakanoko is the bright spot and future and my only point is that I hope Charlie at least gives the young man a second look at starting. He not going learn and grow by watching from the bench.
