Stanford drew a cartoon of a hair-dryer and Nebraska fans lost their minds.
Then, there was tiddy-gate.

Wisconsin fans vs. people pointing out their propensity of snagging big name players from other schools and bringing in big name players via the transfer portal.

A large portion of Clark’s fame is chasing the scoring record. We’d probably need a Bergmann like player getting 20-30 kills a night on a non powerhouse team racking up stats for years. Then breaking through with team success in the last two seasons. Something like the 5* headed to Arizona and getting them to the final four against a Texas/Stanford/Wisky/Nebraska

Nope. 💗 i think in terms of pro volleyball, brazil vs cuba's semifinal in 1996 comes close.. but honestly i would say brazil/cuba's animosity is much stronger then clark and reese's (both players seem to respect and even like each other a lot, but brazil and cuba literally hated each other LOL) and they definitely didn't have the same level of media attention. they made a good ass documentary about it which you can watch here: Sam Walker devoted a chapter of his book The Captain Class to Mireya Luis and that match specifically. Interesting reading.

Cause and Effect Questions: - Are the individual rivalries emphasized because of the successes of WBB?
- Is WBB succeeding because of the focus on individual rivalries?
- Does volleyball need this kind of rivalry to garner more attention?
- Will volleyball naturally evolve this kind of rivalry as it gains in popularity?
- Is WBB and WVB so similar in the nature of the competition for us to draw the parallel?
- Are we barking up the wrong tree by drawing the parallel?

maybe if Swindle wins the job again we can get her and Reilly to beef lol Fine I’ll start. Swindle had more assist than the entire Nebraska team 21 to 18. More Kills than Jackson, Beason, Batenhorst and Allick. More Digs than Rodriguez, Reily and Choboy. 😏

Who is the closest volleyball equivalent to Kim Mulkey though? In terms of fashion? Dani Busboom-Kelly (because of her sensible blazers). In terms of on-court demeanor? Does it need to be said? 🐂🟠
