I need them both to subscribe to subscribe to my styling services. Cause it’s rough out there. Do whatever you can to become Mulkey’s stylist. Someone needs to get her off of the Rainbow Brite aesthetic. doing some research lol, i kinda live she looks like a rival coach from glee or something

Isn't this basically a Carlini vs. Hancock reincarnation? One better player without a championship vs one solid player with a championship?

Also, for the record, there's way less beef between LSU/Iowa than there is between LSU/South Carolina. rivalries within the same conference naturally tend to be more heated. the teams play each other every year (often 2 or even 3 times in a season), especially if the two teams tend to be the top 2 teams in the conference, vying for regular season and conference tourney titles. Anyway, as for me personally, Reese's antics during the championship game last year just rubbed me the wrong way, and I've had a bad taste about her ever since. IMO, there is a difference between decent "trash talk" and just plain taunting. But yeah, the Reese/Clark rivalry is mostly just a product of the media (broadcast and social), and people like us in the peanut gallery stoking things up.

To be fair it’s 2 championships and an Olympic Gold…..but yeah, this is the closest. Only difference is they never had to beef at each other directly. Each had their own Army to carry their banner!

Makes sense for the most part. 18 national titles between those coaches, though one has 11 and one has zero.

Who is the closest volleyball equivalent to Kim Mulkey though? Cook. They even look alike.

I think for American volleyball, the possible equivalent could have been some sort of compelling rival to Kerri and Misty. Maybe if they had publicly broken up in 2012 and there was only one spot in the Olympics, or something like that.
But the nature of basketball is that it's always going to be the sport that produces the most stars, because of the nature of the game allows for the personalities to interact with each other and the audience in a way that exceeds the other major sports.

Basketball can be a very physical game which in itself can trigger a lot of emotions. Volleyball is the exact opposite where there is zero physical contact between opposing players. I know there can sometimes be some serious trash talk at the net, but without physical contact between opposing players volleyball just isn't the same. Blocking a hit or hitting an opposing player in the face with a kill is about as physical as the game gets. But this isn't the same as the hair pulling, body on body in the paint, and diving after loose balls on the basketball court. To me this is why Football has some of the biggest rivalries in sports, because opposing players pretty much bang bodies during an entire game. I would say MMA and Boxing fall into this category as well.
Having said all of that this is why I think Volleyball is over taking women's basketball as the top female sport. Most girls do not like the physical contact of soccer or basketball. Dont get me wrong there are a fair share of girls that embrace the contact but I think it is safe to say most prefer no physical contact during a sporting event.

Two final fours with Mississippi State, and now has completely resurrected Texas and brought them back from the dead -- best player has a season ending injury in week 2, and they end up with a 1-seed. I know they got upset by NC State, but he's returning most of their scorers and has two top ten recruits coming in. I can't wait for Vic to get his natty.
