Arizona is probably in with 7 more wins and very close with 6 more wins. 11 left to play.
Favored: Kansas State, Iowa State, UCF, @ Cincinnati, @ Texas Tech, @ West Virginia Underdog: Arizona State, Kansas, @ Utah, @ BYU Tossup: @ Colorado
They take care of the matches they are favored - and beat Colorado on the road, and I think they are in. Get one of those 4 upsets would give them more wiggle room on the rest.
Only 1 top 50 win so far (BYU) - which could end up being a T25 win. No bad losses. Other than beating BYU (which wasn't a huge upset) - their season has pretty much gone chalk (which is rather unusual).

RPI ranks of the BIG 12 after this week's matches... Right now, we still have 8 teams in the NCAA Tourney conversation (Kansas, TCU, Utah, Arizona State, Baylor, BYU, Colorado, and Arizona). 12 Kansas 13 TCU 17 Utah 18 Arizona State 20 Baylor 26 BYU 50 Colorado 55 Arizona 93 Houston 96 Iowa State 112 Kansas State 122 Texas Tech 124 Cincinnati 154 UCF 166 West Virginia RPI Futures isn't really big on Colorado's chances. Arizona for sure is on the bubble. Colorado is going to probably need to win 6 of their last 11 to make it. Favored: West Virginia, Cincinnati. Underdog: BYU, Utah, Arizona State, @tcu, @ Baylor Tossup: Arizona, Kansas State, @ Iowa State, @ Houston Thanks for this. I'm thinking 6 or 7 bids for BIG 12. My post(s) are just to reflect all potential NCAA "conversation" teams as of late -- considering ~60 or less RPI. Realistically, we all know 45 or less is much safer. Colorado has more home games than not for the remaining matches. They have only played 2 of 7 conference matches at home so far, and their only conference home loss so far is a pretty competitive 4-setter that almost went 5 sets to Kansas. I think there is a decent chance they win 6 more matches. There is a good chance they beat a ranked team or two at home. They went 5 sets with Utah in SLC. I'm not sure why Arizona has more chance than Colorado since CU beat them in Tucson and the Buffs have a number of home matches left, but it's a computer that doesn't understand all of the variables of the "whys" of past results. They are also just a couple sets (even points) away from having a very good RPI right now (5 set losses to Utah and Washington). So far, their only conferences losses are ALL to AVCA ranked and high RPI teams. CU has shown very elite level volleyball at times, and NOT a little more often. So, their inconsistency is hard to predict this season (especially on offense). If they eliminate the extreme up and downs during matches, they could surprise a lot of folks with how good they are. IMO -- the "Tossups" should all realistically be favored toward CU at this point considering results and RPI. But again, CU is pretty young (average of 1.4 years of playing experience among the 8 regular players) and definitely inconsistent. We shall see.

Does Colorado return everyone next year or is their setter a maybe? Simpson is ineligible to play another season (4 years played with this season). However, she HAS petitioned the NCAA for another year and has not heard back yet. Assuming no transfers, Colorado returns ALL other starter players next year (and almost all the following year). I am not counting Simkus on any of this -- since she has only played 0.5 years of NCAA matches in her 4 years on the team, and is honestly more of a liability than an asset to the team (even though she seems VERY cool as a person). Colorado is close to gaining a VERY GOOD Middle from Europe for next year.

Offensive Player of the Week Melanie Parra, TCU, OH, Sr.
Defensive Player of the Week Kate Georgiades, Houston, L, Gr.
Rookie of the Week Avery Scoggins, Arizona, S, Fr. TCU’s Melanie Parra (offensive), Houston’s Kate Georgiades (defensive) and Arizona’s Avery Scoggins (rookie) earned weekly league volleyball accolades for their play during week eight.
Parra led the Big 12 during the week with 6.93 points per set and 5.86 kills per set. Her points per set ranked sixth nationally and helped the Horned Frogs pick up victories on the road against Texas Tech and at home over Cincinnati. The outside hitter totaled a .379 hitting percentage while picking up the 1,000th kill of her career, becoming the 14th player in TCU history to accomplish the feat. This is Parra’s fifth Offensive Player of the Week recognition in 2024, just one away from tying for the most in one season.
Georgiades posted the most digs in a single match in the Big 12 this season with 36 against Arizona, tying UH’s four-set record, also held by Georgiades. The native of College Station, Texas has tallied 21 consecutive matches with 10+ digs. This is Georgiades’ second Big 12 weekly honor this season and the third of her career.
Scoggins recorded 78 assists and 38 digs with double-doubles in each match to help Arizona split the week with a victory over Houston and a five-set contest against Colorado. The freshman’s 8.67 assists per set and her 4.22 digs per set both ranked seventh among league players during week eight while her 19 digs in each match were season highs to claim her second Rookie of the Week title this season.

Offensive Player of the Week Aliyah Carter, K-State, OH, Gr.
Defensive Player of the Week Brielle Kemavor, BYU, MB, So.
Rookie of the Week Rachel Van Gorp, Iowa State, L/OH, Fr
K-State’s Aliyah Carter (offensive), BYU’s Brielle Kemavor (defensive) and Iowa State’s Rachel Van Gorp (rookie) claimed weekly league volleyball accolades for the ninth week of the 2024 season.
Carter led Conference players with 7.06 points per set (No. 4 nationally) and 6.56 kills per set (No. 2 nationally) during the week. The outside hitter’s 27 kills against then-No. 21 Utah set the school record for kills in a four-set match in the rally-scoring era. With her 22nd kill against the Utes, Carter moved to second all-time in career kills at K-State. The native of Dubuque, Iowa joined an elite group of Wildcat greats in the five-set nationally-televised victory against ISU as she became the first K-State player since 2011 to tally 30 or more kills in a match and is one of only seven players in school history to produce a 30-kill match. This is her 10th career weekly Big 12 honor, the ninth most all-time, and her fifth league Offensive Player of the Week title.
Kemavor paced the Cougars defensively at the net with a career-high 12 blocks in BYU’s win at Colorado. The middle blocker averaged a nation-leading 3.00 blocks per set with her 12 total blocks. Adding 14 kills, the Bristow, Virginia native finished with her second double-double of the season. Kemavor is just the seventh middle blocker to record a double-double in the rally-scoring era at BYU, the fifth to post more than one in the same season and the first since 2012. This is her first career Big 12 weekly award.
Van Gorp ranked seventh in the Conference with an average of 4.11 digs per set during the week where ISU faced No. 8 Kansas and K-State. Her 20 digs against the Jayhawks led all players in the match and was the freshman’s third 20-plus dig match while her 17 digs against the Cyclones pushed her double-digit dig streak to five matches. This is the kinesiology major’s first league recognition.

Offensive Player of the Week Elise McGhee, Baylor, OH, Sr.
Defensive Player of the Week Kate Georgiades, Houston, L, Gr.
Rookie of the Week Avery Scoggins, Arizona, S, Fr.
Baylor’s Elise McGhee (offensive), Houston’s Kate Georgiades (defensive) and Arizona’s Avery Scoggins (rookie) earned weekly league awards for their play during the 10th week of the season.
McGhee led the Bears with 37 kills on the week and finished with 5.29 kills per set while guiding Baylor to victories over Iowa State and Colorado. The senior from San Antonio had 24 kills in the sweep over the Buffaloes, the fourth most all-time for kills by a BU player in a three-set match. The outside hitter majoring in health science studies had three aces against the Cyclones and totaled a .295 hitting percentage throughout the week with a league-leading 6.0 points per set. This is the 2023 All-Big 12 First Team member’s third career weekly honor and her second Offensive Player of the Week title.
Georgiades had her eighth career match with 30 or more digs as the libero tallied 31 in a four-set victory over Cincinnati for a Conference-leading 7.75 digs per set. It was the graduate student’s 120th career match with 10+ digs and her 10th match of the season with 20+ digs. This is the 2023 Big 12 Libero of the Year’s third weekly honor this year and the fourth of her career.
Scoggins recorded 84 assists and led the Big 12 with 12.00 assists per set while facing then-No. 20 BYU and then-No. 22 Utah. The freshman had her first 50-assist match in Arizona’s four-set match against the Utes while adding 16 digs for her eighth double-double of the season. This is Scoggins’ third Rookie of the Week nod.

Instead of playing 6 ranked teams in a row, Colorado finally plays a lower half Big 12 team and SWEEPS Cincinnati.
Buffs hit over .300 in the match.
Burilovic and Dwinnel both hit over .400 while hitting double digit kills each.
