Roman is staying at coast. Why would he bother with commuting to the Bay Area, isn't he already committed to Hawaii?

One other thing that hasn't really been discussed is how hard this is to do long term. Because of where they located, HVA and C2 have been doing this heavily for the past 4-5 years. Until boys VB in Florida blew up, 352 was doing it as well. I can't speak with 100% certainty on C2, but I think they ran into the same issues that HVA ran into last year. If the family is really dedicated, commuting long distances works Ok for the first year or two. However, after a couple of years it gets old really quickly. Clubs try to work around that by having once a month mini-camps where they will practice Friday/Saturday/Sunday. But again, even that gets difficult when you get into prime season and suddenly that remote person is traveling 3, 4, 5 weekends in a row. By that 4th weekend, you and your wallet are really wanting a weekend off from travel. The other thing that throws a wrench into the mix for the 17's and 18's are all the school activities. 17's year it's SAT/ACT's. 18's year it's college visits, homecoming, prom and all the other events that high school seniors get pulled into. Throw in the occasional injury as well. None of those issues are exclusive to remote players. However, it's amplified when you have a lot of remote players. By our 18's year, it seemed like we were missing one or two remote players every minicamp, and some months, the only time the entire team got together was when they showed up on Friday/Saturday at the tournament. When you have a team that has a lot of remote players, it really hard to develop the level of consistency that you get when everyone is local. Sure a team of high-level players will probably get into the gold bracket every tournament. However, consistency is what gets you to the finals and not washed out in the quarterfinals or the play in match.
