Great Job Vballfreak808. Looking at the majority of the BWC Team rosters, the Wahine have to be the smallest team in the Conference. Both size wise and roster wise. The Wahine team is just 1 injury away from ending up in the 3rd tier of the Conference. Why Robyn and staff would put the Wahine players in this type of predicament is beyond me. Would have thought Robyn would have learned from what Charlie Wade went through during the Men's season, this past year.

Based on last season's results and returning players I would have Cal Poly and LBSU tier one but would also include Hawaii because they are always there. I am intrigued with my second tier teams of UCSB, UCSD, UCI and UCD because I think three out of four of these teams will be significantly better this year and a couple may contend for a conference championship. I just hope that two of the four bottom tier teams of UCR, CSUF, CSUB and CSUN are closer to 150 than 250 RPI.
I also believe this is going to be a very exciting year with the top fielding solid teams without one being heads and shoulders better than the other. With that said, if Cal Poly and LBSU can stay healthy and play to their upper abilities they have a chance to develop into pretty high level teams.

My guess would be Cal Poly, Hawaii always seems to do well on the matches that really count.. but the edge for me will probably be Poly. Still hoping the Bows freshmen do well!

Amazing job VBF808! Thanks. Beach return experience with hammers Agi & Glenn, 1st Team BWC Setter Meyer and MB Bacon...all solid players. They only lose HC Tyler and OPP Kennedy. Hope Wahine will gel in time for conference play. Losing AA Amber Igiede will be a challenge for Coach Robyn.

Cal Poly has to be the favorite.
THey played in Europe this summer, so they already have a leg up in just integrating a few pieces to a veteran team.
For Poly? It's passing, receiving, and passing lol
+ they lost their best passer in libero Okima, so that is a massive hole and question mark. They bring in this player from Turkey, will be interesting to see her play and if a contributer.
Stockham can hammer it, she can also shank a bunch of balls. Teams go after her
plus Poly opens at home for once, and the schedule isn't super tough, they could build a lot of confidence, well unless they start off shanking balls in the backcourt again
if Poly's OHs pass well, Poly can beat some good teams
Walters has a pretty no nonsense approach, hammer the ball, lol. she's not quick to call time-outs and lets the team figure it out.
Poly's middles will be improved, so if the passing is better, that'll make them that much harder to deal with.
Bullis is upper tier for setting in the Big West. She and Stockham will be Big West POY candidates......if Poly can pass the ball

can someone explain, with some detail, why Hawaii would appear to be the prohibitive favorite to win the Big West? that the 'poll' infers
or is this just because the # of posters and voters are 80% Hawaii fans

can someone explain, with some detail, why Hawaii would appear to be the prohibitive favorite to win the Big West? that the 'poll' infers or is this just because the # of posters and voters are 80% Hawaii fans Assuming 80% of poll voters are Hawai'i fans: 41 voters total as of 8/20/24 AM. ~ 32 are Hawai'i fans (assuming ~ 78% of 41 voters). 18 have voted for Hawai'i (assuming all voters are Hawai'i fans, then ~ 56% of 32 Hawai'i voters). If so, then ~ 44% of Hawai'i voters are voting for other teams (~14 of 32). But, of the 9 non-Hawai'i voters, who did they vote for? Just their home teams? Doesn't seem likely. Assume they voted 44% for some other team, same as the Hawai'i rate. Then out of those 9 non-Hawai'i votes, four votes probably went to one of the Tier-1 teams: Hawai'i/Beach/Cal Poly and maybe one more (UCSD/UCSB?). Given Hawai'i is the BWCT winner and a perennial in Tier-1, not unreasonable to assume that 2 of the 9 non-Hawai'i fan voters voted for Hawai'i. If so, then 16 of 18 of the Hawai'i votes are from Hawai'i fans, which means that 16 of 31 Hawai'i voters picked Hawai'i. SO, that means that of the Hawai'i fan voters, it's almost a coin flip as to whether or not they voted for their own team. Not an outrageous result for a pre-season poll, given your assumption of 80% Hawai'i fans voting.
