I hope CSUF is improved from this prediction and somehow finds their way into the 8th spot from tied for last. I think they have a realistic shot at that. I am praying for the improvement because I think with time their coaching staff can make some significant gains. I really like head coach Nicole. CSUN has a new coaching staff and is basically starting over from nothing. Yet CSUN is picked ahead of Fullerton and Riverside! WOW just WOW. That is some big disrespect for Coach Nicole and the former softball player that coaches Riverside. I am wondering if this disrespect stems from the fact both the Fullerton and Riverside coaches come from the Ashley Preston coaching tree. Many people felt Preston winning Coach of the Year after going 4-12 in conference was a joke. Anyway beachgrad I echo your sentiment. I root for an improved Fullerton and Riverside every year for the good of the conference.

Fullerton is much improved, be warned. Fullerton lineup: 1 freshman, 9 sophomores, 3 juniors, and 2 seniors. SmokeDogg I hope you are right!
How do elephants fight?
I wanna see the titans stampede all over their non conference opponents .

I see this league getting stronger after the mass exodus of the PAC. Even not being P4. Many talented players will choose to stay close to home.

It takes $$$,...which apparently these schools don't want to spend.

My bad. I didn't see your post and the poll was only posted yesterday on the BW site.

early season harbingers:
Cal Poly vs. #19 Arkansas. at Cal Poly. huge match for Cal Poly to establish if they are 'for real' and a top 25 ish contender.
LBSU home to Northwestern. Upper Tier Big West vs. Big 10. A week after LBSU's 'baptism' vs. PItt & Oregon. Two matches, so can LBSU get consistent back to back performances regardless of the 1st weekend results. If Beach can sneak a win first week, they need to back it up. If Beach loses 1st week, they need to rebound and get wins.
SB 9/8 @ San Diego. After playing 3 of first 5 vs ranked teams on the road, BIg West vs. WCC. By then how well has SB re-loaded?
9/6-7 Hawaii vs. Pepperdine. Again Big West vs. WCC. by then how well has Hawaii reloaded?
UCSD 9/20 vs. LMU. Big West vs. WCC. UCSD had a very good year, and looked to become a contendor, adds some good recruits. The schedule first 3 weekends would seem to appear to be manageable to have a solid wining record, before their challenging last non-conf weekend.
if the BIg West goes 5-0 in those match-ups, then it'll establish some solid ratings. If like 1-4, then not, .... 1 bid.

Northwestern has been a program in turmoil and is a complete unknown at this point. The matches against Pitt and Oregon are likely to be huge mis-matches. I think LB may have to wait until conference play to really demonstrate what they are about (a huge upset against either Pitt or Oregon might completely change that conversation, but it seems improbable).

A note about LB, they will have the freshman of the year in Madi Maxwell. I saw her play at Fullerton's spring match. She was the best player on the court. She is very good.

I would agree had Beach not have some injuries, and there will be a question mark hovering over the coaching staff until they prove themselves. Yeah, it may turn out to be a match that is simply a confidence booster, and that's the point. Beach needs to establish some confidence early.

They may or may not, but even if they do, it's not a significant win. I don't expect there to be much of a change in the LB system under the interim. Maybe the continuity (and experience) will kick in and the team will be able to click early, but not really sure what to expect of this team or staff at the moment.

I was thinking the same thing but did not want to jinx her or the team by saying it first . She is LBSU's future setter but is really a very good all around volleyball player.
