You are to busy getting defensive to read carefully. I'm not assuming "recent championships" are the ONLY measure of success. I clearly said it seems there is a dissconect between how successful hawaii has been ASIDE from championships (in the last 20 years) and their number of championships in the last 20 years. Uh huh. And I'm pretty sure I responded with why there isn't really a disconnect but I think you just skimmed that part in order to get antagonistic. Maybe because the original question was about Top Coaches and your "wholly innocent questions" were posed in response to Shoji being named. The clear insinuation you made is that, gee, maybe Shoji isn't all that great after all. I and others invited you to look at the overall picture and not just one thing. Furthermore, as I pointed out in my first post responding to you, the wording of your sincere questions were indeed digs. Reread them. And if you are still going to deny deny deny than I guess I should apologize for thinking you were being disingenuous when you were instead just inarticulate or clueless. Exactly, there are a lot or reasons why which is why the question doesn't seem legitimate. The main reason for a lot of those years is that Hawaii, although highly competitive, didn't have the best team in the nation. Period. It's not like they were the forerunners and then blew it. On the contrary, they've gone farther than expected many times. And although I don't subscribe to the "outraged" club, there were a few years recently where Hawaii was in fact screwed by the NCAA committee in the seedings. All of which I think you already knew before asking. Ooh, nice misquote. Now, take a deep breath, calm down and reread the thread. Then when you say crazy, look in the mirror and wave at yourself. I'm not the one who got all hot and bothered about anything. Have a nice day.

Chance and others:
The biggest change impacting Hawaii vb is the early commitments by top players that has occurred over the last 4 - 5 years.
Players are now making "unofficial" visits and are committing before their senior year, and in some cases, their junior years. Top players are committing during their junior year. How many top 2008 recruits have committed already and it is still only the spring of 2007?
Not many top players can pay their own way to do an unofficial visit at Hawaii? They can drive anywhere on the continental U.S.
This added factor now impacts Hawaii -- which was not the case in the 1980's and through the 1990's. No other college has this disadvantage to my knowledge.

I knew some players might be reluctant to move all the way out there, but i hadn't put the distance together with unofficial visits becoming prominent as a result of early committment..

Gosh. Every thread always leads to a talk about Hawaii. Enough already.

Every forum's discussion topics = f(forum members)
"f(forum members)" means function where "forum members" is a variable.
For example, there are no forum members who are fans of Seattle University's volleyball team. Hence, no topic about Seattle University.

Jamie Mellies is going to be the bomb. Or a firecracker, at the very least.
Go Redhawks!

"New Blood": Too early to see returns from Pacific for Wade, if that's what you're going to base it on. Craig Skinner is a definite, and I would include Tim Horsmon, Jerritt, Chris Beerman, Dave Shondell, Chris Lamb, Geoff Carlston, Jen from San Diego, and Hilbert.

ROFL! "voo-wee..suh-wee...." Great karaoke material! Thanks! Shoji is a man of many talents, of many masks. If Chance continues to disrespect Shoji, he could very well be on the receving end of a "Double Chop" or a "Double Typhoon" to the groin. I'd tread lightly if I were Chance.
