Anyone know what the cost is going to be for Sting versus what Lightning was, or compared to how much MVC costs?

Flyer is posted on the Sting website under the tryouts section. $1950 for the boys program, which includes Nationals and SCVA tournament. However, does not include travel, lodging, etc for any tournaments. I believe this is the same or similar to MVC. Guessing it will end up around $500~$1000 more than what was charged by Lightning.

Why would it be funny to have coaches change clubs? Is it that unheard of? If I was an assistant at MVC looking to be a head coach, I'd consider moving.
Lightning B16s coach Ryan is going to Sting. Don't know what team he'll coach. Maybe the Sting B17s for continuity.
Sting website says: Jeffrey Schmitz, Ryan Thompson, Scott Perry, Jacob Oberbruner, Dave Olson, Nick Maske, Mary Blandino
I think most or all of those people were with Lightning boys teams.

It is fairly unheard of for MVC boys coaches to leave is what he was saying I think. In recent years only a couple have left to work at other clubs and I think they only left to take director-coaching combo positions. MVC staff is a close group, they have been together for a long time now. I'm done playing but from what I can see/hear - they've kept the same coaches together and added some solid young new ones too. The fact that they have coaches that could leave and be 1s coaches somewhere else - but choose to stay and take a 2s or assist a 1s team, says a lot imo.

Just saw that SPVB is branching up north & moving into Energy's facility. Any chance any Milwaukee area players make the drive south to them? I knew of one player who drove down south to play with Ultimate awhile back. He was from Kenosha... not Milwaukee

According to MVC brochure, these are first batch of committed coaches for this club season. Jake Nowak, Brad Kuehl, Jim Plaisted, Brian Rushmer, Kyle Olmstead, James Sweeney, Bobby Vranek, Phil Lambe, Jon Nowak, Nick Puetzer, and Blake Wachi. I believe more are being recruited.

Does anyone have an inside scoop on where lightning players from the 18s, 17s, and 16s are going? Will they stay together or distribute to other clubs? All these guys are still kids, I doubt they even know where they are going. Should be one hell of an interesting weekend in November.

You would think that they would want to stay together based on their past success, but this would be the 3rd straight year with the same coaches. Not sure if that will be good for the overall development of the team. Is it normal for teams to keep the same coaches for a team, year after year, or is it better to be changing each year?

From my experience, it is better to have different coaches to get a more wider perspective on volleyball as different coaches have varied views on playing the game. Just one reason why I advise parents to not coach their kids more than two years. Most of those kids become "bounce back" kids because they end up homesick or cannot handle their collegiate coach's style.

This is a question that has been asked for years. There are positives/negatives to both sides. I tend to think it depends on the situation. If you have a great coach, why does it matter if you have him/her for more than 2 years?

Tryout times, as currently posted, will make it difficult for kids to tryout for more than two teams. For the 17's, Sting is from 12:30 to 2 on Sat, MVC from 2:30 to 4:30, but then Southwest starts at 4:00 on Sat.The half hour gap should allow kids to do both Sting and MVC (WA Hale to Pius XI), but MVC to Southwest will likely mean a min hour lost in tryout time. Is there any reason the clubs can't somehow get together and allow the boys to get to all of the possible tryouts they can?

My guess is the 17's first choice will be Sting, in order to keep the team together. Big fear is that the team would get split up if they go to MVC. Thinking is MVC would take the big middle and one or two others on a one's team and the rest would end up on two's or three's.
