Anyone else seem to think our OHs need to step it up? Last night they were a total non-factor. It started out with the passing, of course, but I'm not really sure what the benefit is of having Epenesa play 6 rotations when she is such a liability backrow. I didn't see her attack back there and they were serving her ALOT. Boilers REALLY NEED to get production from the OHs to balance and for OOS plays. Drews had an OK performance last night and the middles did well offensively. Is Smith still not cleared to play a full 6 rotations? Are they still playing it safe w/ her shoulder? We need to try having her 6 rotations, and then have Stahl/Epenesa battle it out for the other OH spot, and have Peters or Workman go in for them in back. Thoughts? I thought that the OHs did very well against Illinois...but for the Wisconsin game they kind of took a step backwards. Like I said before, Drews can only do so much. We need people to step up and help her out and contribute kills. I also saw that as the match went on, we went to Drews a lot more than Adelaja and Cuttino. I think that Evans is still learning and is getting better and better as the season progresses...but Drews is relied on too much. Stahl and Epenesa were doing as much they could...I still think Stahl will be special. Epenesa had some good plays last night, but I think that she was better in the front than the back. I wanted to see if Rorhsen or Peters could have been substituted in for her in the back. I really enjoyed seeing Dimke sub in for Drews for a bit. I am not sure about Smith. She is rarely ever used in the front row. I am guessing that killing the ball would be the most painful for someone who has gone through shoulder surgery.

I had thought the same with Peters, and I've noticed her and Workman are up and down nightly. Sometimes its Peters, sometimes Workman, sometimes Alexa Smith... Also seems that he's trusting Epenesa to pass in serve receive more. Its the double edged sword with having such a deep team. Also seems to me that Drews is either unstoppable or hitting negative. Or is that just me? Purdue is very blessed with so many talented players. I agree with what you're saying about the shuffling of DS players. I wonder if Coach Shondell has found his perfect combination yet or if he will continue to shuffle players around each night. I was happy to see that Rorhsen saw playing time against Illinois. I cannot wait to see how Purdue will do against Wisconsin. I am glad that they will also be playing at Purdue for the final game of th season. Purdue has been playing well at home. Completely off topic...but how do you feel about the random Wednesday/Sunday games? I liked it more when every team in the Big 10 played Friday/Saturday and just had to tough it out week in and week out. A few days rest seems to make a big difference and it may have been in Purdue's interest to play PSU and OSU like that... I guess I am saying that I wish the Big Ten was more uniform...make everyone either play Friday/Saturday or play Wednesday/Saturday. Spoiler, I forgot to comment on the schedule. I don't like the Wednesday/Sunday schedule. Dave always said he liked the Friday- Saturday games because it really prepares the B1G for NCAA play come post season. Nothing gets you more prepared then having to playing at PSU/OSU back to back then the next week play at Wisco and Minnesota. The other thing I think is it's nice to be able to have 5 days every week to prepare for two teams, with the new scheduling, its 6 days to prepare one week, then 3 then 2 then 5. I don't particularly like it but that's just me.

But it looks like Purdue will be ending the season playing MSU, Wisconsin, and Minnesota with that type of schedule. I would rather it be the same type of scheduling for the whole conference schedule...not a mixture of Friday/Saturday and Wednesday/Friday/Saturday/Sunday.
