Historical backdrop: I've been on this board for over 13 years and being a Stanford grad have been on the defensive for at least 10 of those years by threads created by fans of East of the Mississippi River dominated conferences about how overrated were conferences on the western side of the mighty Missipp.
Payback, (R) and others. Take away the Big 12 runaway interloper, Nebraska, the Big 10 would be even further behind the Pac 12 and WCC than it is unexpectedly already. Is Minnesota, the Big 10's seemingly other high quality team (which earlier lost 3-0 to and at Stanford) the only B1G worthy of a top 20 ranking?
Sheesh!!

Oh %*$#...
But real talk, big 10 hasn't dominated since week 1, and it's the 1st week of play which should be taken with the largest grain of salt of the season. I mean who is actually good on day 1?

Nebraska is loaded this season. Other than that, the rest of the teams are capable of losing to a lot of other teams (and why did Wisconsin need to prove that tonight? Grrrr.)

Just as the PAC was weak after first week now this. Both way premature. Let's see where all the teams stand at end of year Right now there's Nebraska on one level and rest of league on another.

Tonight Illinois bowed to Oregon and Stanford has Purdue on the ropes. Maryland has the last chance to slay Pac foes Washington and USC; good luck with that. I hope the committee is taking note for when it comes seeding time!

I hope the committee is taking note for when it comes seeding time! Relax its third weekend of season. Long way to go. But if you want to look at it that way then I would have to say it doesn't matter if you get whole conference in tourney. Nobody is gonna beat Nebraska so it really doesn't matter

Purdue projected to finish on bottom half of the Big and going to 5 with Stanford.

Also - personally, I would have waited for the final result of the Stanford-Purdue match before firing a shot across the bows of flyover country, but I admire the confidence.
Edit: Annnd, Furd snatches defeat from the jaws of victory.

They could be the 2nd or 3rd best team in the Big 10. I have to eat crow on this one. Purdue played Stanford much better then Minnesota, PSU or Illinois did.
