Getting back to the orignal topic, Karsta is done with volleyball. She wasn't interested in doing the club team/national team grind another quad. She's currently at USC working on a grad degree.

Geddy is a very reliable source about this stuff since he works in LA area (what's your occupation again, Geddy? haha..) so I would believe him. Disappointing news, but she's had a great career, from being a walk on at UCLA, to leading the nation in points and kills her senior year, and bursting onto the national team scene a year before the olympics. Perhaps she might change her mind closer to the olympics (2019?) and get back in the gym, but at that point all the other girls in the gym the whole quad will have an upper leg. Anyways, she should be very proud of her career and what she's accomplished!

In this case, though, my source is Karsta Lowe, so I felt pretty comfortable posting it.

Well I think she is the only Bruin with a national championship plus World Cup and Olympic (indoor) medals.

If true, that would be disappointing, but you have to respect her choice, it's her own life and she has the right to do with it however she likes. There no doubt will be a hole in the NT now, but I am sure in time it will be filled with someone just as capable, if no more so, than Lowe.

I'm still surprised Natalie Hagglund called it quits, too.

This is disappointing from a NT perspective. Karsta was absolutely amazing when I saw her in person. She shredded a PSU team that won the National Championship that year, even though UCLA lost that day. I thought for sure she would be a shoe -in for the national team eventually. But you have to respect the priorities that individuals set. Good luck to her.

Pro/National Team volleyball does seem like a really tough grind. Heck club/high school volley is a grind. What other sports are year round?? I mean literally 12 -months per year? And I don't imagine volleyball is Karsta's only ticket out of the ghetto that is Rancho Santa Fe.

After watching 4 Red/Blues, the standouts at Opp have been Kelly Murphy, Aiyana Whitney (Penn St.) and Liz McMahon (Illinois). Aiyana is quite a jumper and McMahon's 6'6" of her is pretty threatening. Although Murphy was still out of tempo w/ the setters, she still is an offensive threat. That's my quick synopsis.
