Well regardless, this isn’t happening. Kerri’s making it very clear on social media that she will not be dumping Brooke. Never say never. One year ago Kerri made it very clear on social media that she would not be dumping Nicole Branagh! Yes but her and Nicole had never won a pretty stacked four star tournament together.

On the women’s side, Australia 1, Czech 1 are going. These are two top 5 teams. They’re not letting their compatriots have a chance to earn a spot lol.
In that case I think USAV is not sending any teams because in previous cycles, both teams qualified through Olympics rankings points. So to be fair, USAV is making the teams earn their spot. If they can be the top 15, great, they can go.

Obviously most of the women’s teams in contention for an Olympic spot will now be playing AVP Hawaii with a chance to earn real cash. But I wonder if Kerri/Brooke lobbied USAV to play this qualification event anyway?

On Casey’s latest podcast Kerri said she is going to China for this event. Interesting.

No, she's not. The entry list has already been confirmed and there is no US team registered.

No, it didn't. There was never a US team registered. Neither in the Men's tournament nor in the Women's tournament.

probably a good chance that teams will still cancel. would be surprised if switzerland makes this trip after the recent finishes.

From my other post about the qualification race, the teams in the top 9 currently have no need or reason to enter this tournament. But teams 10-18 would earn the ability to stop HAVING to enter everything.... they are, based on TOP 8 finishes thus far, per player:
10. CZE1 2280 (Hermannova) ENTERED 11. Ger1 2210 (Ludwig) NOT 12. Rus1 2160 (Makroguzova) NOT 13. ITA1 2150 (Menegatti) ENTERED 14. Ger2 2120 (Borger) NOT 15. Chi1 2070 (Wang) ENTERED 16. Ned1 2060 (Meppelink) ENTERED 17. Ned2 2020 (Stubbe) NOT 18. tie SVK1 2000 (Strbova) ENTERED 18. tie. LAT 2000 (Graudina) ENTERED
The teams that would urgently need to Final are the next tier that don't have a great chance of breaking the top 18:
Germany 3 (Ittlinger) ENTERED AUT (Schützenhöfer) ENTERED China 2 (Xue) NOT Poland (Wojtasik) NOT RUS2 (Birlova) NOT Finland (Lahti) ENTERED
Why would Germany entere their #3 team?.
Why Russia entered their #4 (currently ranked) team ahead of Rus1, Rus2 and Rus3 is odd.
*edit* my mistake, NED has entered a team. Why would the Netherlands enter no team when both of their teams are in a tight race for points qualification?

Believe it or not, when they had to enter the list of teams for this event, Ittlinger/Laboureur was the top German team. They were given the host nation seed as Seed 12 for Hamburg World Champs. Ludwig and Kozuch were way down the list (recall they were in Qualifers!) The other countries who entered their 2nd or 3rd or 4th team want to lock down another spot if they know the top team will make it. Netherlands have entered Meppelink/Keizer for this event. A lot has changed since the deadline they had to enter in teams. In my opinion, this tournament is very odd. Obviously the top team for each nation earned a spot for their nation. But those who earned the spot might not be going. So some nations are sending their 2nd or 3rd team. But winning this only earns a spot for the nation, not the team itself. And if you’ve earned a spot here, you can’t earn another spot through the FIVB rankings. They might as well have everyone earn their spot through the FIVB rankings and take the top 17 teams instead of the top 15. Very pointless event in my opinion after I read into it more.

Could result in an interesting situation if Germany 3 wins a spot here but Borger/Sude end up higher in the rankings... But still unlikely to happen given how far away Ittlinger is from being a world class player

Right, this tournament is strange. It's almost like somebody thought of the idea, but didn 't really think it through.
Ostensibly a reason could be that they hoped all the good teams would skip, and a team ranked, say #25, would win, thus diversifying the mix of teams who qualify. . That could still happen if Austria or Finland make it to the finals, but with all those teams ranked in the teens also entered, not very likely.
As it stands, the highest ranked team that are entered are Canada2 (Wilkerson) and SUI (Heidrich). They would certainly be the favorites to Final.
