Whatever the reason for being a sophomore, I don't think it really matters. All the kids mentioned (and I will add a couple of more) play 17s in club, and play Varsity in High School.... I don't think it matters their age compared to the sophomore class - Dillon Klein Andrew Rowan Andrew Shevland All 17s aged kids who are sophomores. I am unsure about Jordan (i dont even know his last name), but wouldn't surprise me if we was a 17's aged player also. The real treat for OCVC and MB Surf - especially OCVC, who has 3 of the players listed above - They get another year of 18s!! You are assuming they will stay with same club.

Snoey plays Oppo mostly, no? I appreciate Kane, and he's is a favorite of mine, but... no, he's not the same level as Lucas or Klein. Yet. Snoey does mostly play oppo from most of the season, but he never fails to be an elite outside. Kane is one of the most athletic outsides in his class and has a great swing, has also proven to step-up in big moments. However his success is a lot to do in part with his team, MVVC 16 Red is a force to be reckoned with and is most likely going for a deep run at BJNC. But Lucas (He is super athletic and yes he did play more than Ewert at HP so I guess), Klein (absolute beast), and Ewert (who has played up his entire life and was the only freshman on last years Fab 50) are just better than him, he can definitely work his way up to be in that tier. Not to forget Duross of course who is on-par with Kane, its just MVVC has a better well rounded team IMO Anyways, Lucas has proved to step up in the big moments, especially because OCVC 17 Red is revolved around him, while Ewert can be shut down pretty easily. Maybe its a maturity thing because Ewert has never been THE GUY on his team (Mostly Hawkins and Ramanis). But I still stand that Ewert is definitely on par with Lucas, don't really agree with being much better but I can see both ways.

Everyone sleeping on Owen Loncar He plays 16s, not 17s, and this thread started as a 17s eval, not the 2022 class. Kinda hard to sleep on the MVP of the best team in his age division, though.

Loncar, however as athletic as Kane and a great hitter in his own way, with all due respect, is a horrible passer.

HE is a great player and definitely one of the top outsides, but watching him play his passing is just a weakness

[Police office voice] sir, I'm going to have to ask you to step away from that crack pipe now. Do you believe he is a good passer ? He's one of the most well rounded players in 16s, so yes. My kid, who's played him a more than a few times (and, ummm, has a better view / eval than I do) thinks he's the best all around OH in the age group (that's limited to 16s, so he's excluding the boys who play up and he hasn't seen on the court since 14s).

I’ve played him a couple times. The only reason we beat them was cause Loncar was struggling to pass. IMO Kane is better well rounded but not as good as an attacker and blocker.

We should just start a new Class of 2022 thread lol

Best all around 2022 rn is Lucas. Klein can match him offensively but not on a consistent basis. Lucas is almost never shut down in a match. And Lucas passing and defense is noticeably further along the Klein right now. Ewert is good when he’s good, but can sometimes just do absolutely nothing (hp this past summer was very ineffective during tournament play). I agree with the poster above regarding Dane and Owen. It could change in the future but at this moment in time, if you were making an all star team of 2022, Lucas is going to be the first OH you choose
