I wonder if Dietzen would've gotten Bown'd if Dixon remained healthy. She's the Captain, silly. Captains, leaders, and emotional drivers don't get cut! wait, i though CT was the emotional leader of this team.

Correct. CT is the emotional driver. Dietzen is the captain. Now, we're just looking for a leader.

Correct. CT is the emotional driver. Dietzen is the captain. Now, we're just looking for a leader. It will need to be Larson. I've seen her lead the professional teams she's played and won with competing with lots of fire and intensity. She can be completely fierce when she wants to be - but perhaps with this team culture it's discouraged. Larson has the game - she just needs to use it when it really counts.

Larson is playing at a really high level right now. We don't need her to do anything more than what she currently is.

I agree. We need Jordan to be an anchor, not necessarily a leader. It may be that amidst this squishy culture, the team doesn't need--or want--a leader on the roster.

I feel like leadership isn't really a problem for our team. The team has good chemistry and they're all fairly experienced. If much rather get some terminating from the right than general leadership. And hopefully Robinson gets out of her hitting slump to relieve some pressure on the outsides. As much as I think the CT choice is absurd, Karch seems to have prepared the team well mentally. The key now seems to be balancing out the offense.

Thailand would be the logical choice since they were 5th in the WOQT and kinda got cheated. The best team not in the tournament is Turkey but their best players haven't been training with the national team this season so it would probs be too last minute and I'm not sure FIVB could justify that. I don't see Russia getting banned but I feel like this has to be an all or nothing situation so it is a small possibility of enough Russians are caught on doping.

I didn't know in which of the several Rio threads to post this, but here's a highlight video of the USA and Brazil MBs from the WGP Final. Really good stuff.

Interesting match.. I don't think I've ever seen Brazil use the middle as much as they have. I wish we'd do the same.

If many American fans were furious about Karch bringing in 3 setters for Rio and the lack of a terminating Opp. Then Marco Bonnita, the Italian coach, is getting a lot of criticisms as well. He released Italy's roster today and is bringing in 4 Opps (Centoni, Ortolani, Egonu, Diouf)... with only 2 pure OHs (Del Core and Sylla) with Sylla's passing a little suspect right now.
This is important as USA and Italy are in the same pool in Rio.
