as always, "the uploader has not made this video available in the US" Ya, it'll be like that for the rest of the year. Probably will work with a VPN if it's worth the extra couple bucks for ya.

Since there are only 12 teams in the women's qualifier (6 advance), does that mean a couple of lucky loser teams will also go to the main draw? If so, how will they be chosen?

No one hates the US. They just love the money they get from NBC to keep the streams blacked out in the US. So NBC buys the rights to the event, they show either the men's final OR the women's final, and they don't alllow any streaming during the course of the event for anything else? The money sure helps, but it doesn't exactly help with exposure for the AVP. Surely the AVP website is streaming. I mean it is an AVP event as well right?

That men's field may be the worst I have seen in the last several years.
Given that the prize money is the same as a regular AVP is it possible that Donald could expand the tour in the future by taking on 3-5 Opens per year in addition to regular AVP events?
I know there are commitments that need to be made to FIVB events that may be different but does anyone have an idea what that looks like and if it would be feasible?

I would be curious if these type of tournaments take opportunity away from having other AVP tournaments, or if it's just an addition. The WOrld Class quality is cool, but there are alot of "AVP PLayers" who don't even have the opportunity to play in this "AVP Event". And I do think it looks a little worse this year because it's falling on the same weekend as an NVL tournament. 2 really big domestic tournaments this weekend that the Beach teams in that 5-20 range can't even play in. I don't think that looks good, especially when we're still trying to solidify our own tour.

AVP is streaming the Lucena/Dalhausser match on Periscope right now. Not the best quality video but it's something. Interesting to see Dalhausser actually getting served to a little bit.

No personal, firsthand knowledge of this, but I have been told that when the AVP "co-hosts" an FIVB event, the AVP folks are treated like the servants and when told to do jump, they pretty much have to ask "how high?" Not sure Donald Sun and company are interested in that type of "partnership." Jeez, could I put anything else in "quotes?"
By the way, beautiful day today - let's hope it lasts - is there anything better than a partly sunny, 65-70 degree day watching volleyball??? Well, maybe if it were on an actual beach, but here in the Midwest, we are not that picky!!!

I know there are commitments that need to be made to FIVB events that may be different but does anyone have an idea what that looks like and if it would be feasible? What does it look like, and is it feasible? Sure, it looks like Brazil this year. Before this May 1st, 2016, Brazil hosted 4 FIVB events on this year's tour: 3 Opens and 1 Grand Slam. It's definitely possible, it's just more expensive to run an Open than it is to run an AVP. It's something like a couple hundred grand for the licencing fee. ... when the AVP "co-hosts" an FIVB event, the AVP folks are treated like the servants and when told to do jump, they pretty much have to ask "how high?" Not sure Donald Sun and company are interested in that type of "partnership." ... I wouldn't really call it "servants" but you do have to play by the FIVB rules... and there are rules for everything. It's important to note that it's not just the AVP, every promoter of every tour event has to play by these rules and do what the FIVB staff says to make sure the events are up to specifications. They are hosting an FIVB event, and The FIVB holds their events on a very high standard. They have many rules, regulations and processes to make sure each event is kept at that standard.
