Great job as always, vbprisoner! Thanks for doing this!
I had Northern Iowa at 25...should they also be listed as receiving at least 1 vote?

Great job as always, vbprisoner! Thanks for doing this! I had Northern Iowa at 25...should they also be listed as receiving at least 1 vote? It's to early in the season to pay much attention to the various polls. What DOES catch my attention is that undefeated BYU has only lost a measly four SETS thus far.

Great job as always, vbprisoner! Thanks for doing this! I had Northern Iowa at 25...should they also be listed as receiving at least 1 vote? Good catch lionsfan and I corrected. The 9 other teams receiving votes are not in order of votes/points. They were all under 10 points, but to make the top 25 a team must be listed on at least 5 ballots.

Biggest movers: Cal Poly up 3 spots and Washington State down 3 spots.
Other than the last 3 in each ranking, the biggest differences are Michigan (up 5 spots higher in the VT poll) and Washington (down 5 spots in the VT poll).

Interesting that Georgia isn't getting any votes. Seems like they will be vying for the top tier of the SEC.

I agree with these rankings. TX shot themselves in the foot. I predicted the to fall to 5th or 6th.

This was the same top 25 as I had. I kind of thought Louisville, Portland, and Kansas State were the real contenders for #25 - I went with Louisville since I had them rated higher to start the season and I would like to see more from the other two. So many (too many) have tried to disqualify for Top 25 consideration.
I switched my #1 this week - going the opposite direction (I voted BYU #1). There are two reasons why the change: 1) Every week I reevaluate everything - as opposed to starting with the previous poll and updating with current week results. 2) I am relying more and more on results and less at future projection.
At the end of the day (for me) - Stanford and BYU are easily the two best teams in the nation. BYU won the H2H - and when there is virtually nothing else to separate these two teams, that becomes more important. Even if it was a close 5 set match played in Utah. I also kept Texas at #4 - so I am not devaluing what Stanford did this week.

Volleytalk Top 25 Ranking - week 4 - 9/17(ranking, team, #1 votes, total points, 9/10 ranking) 1. BYU (20).................739....(1) 2. Stanford (9)............728....(2) 4. Wisconsin (1)..........647....(5) Last week's #1 votes: 1. BYU (26).......................745 2. Stanford (4)...................723 --- vbprisoner : Did someone shift their vote to Wisconsin for #1 or is that an alternative/back-up poster? I was one of the posters who switched my number 1 vote to Stanford this week, from BYU last week. Sweeping and winning 3-1 against Texas, in addition to convincing victories against Penn State and Minnesota, outweighs a 2-3 H2H loss @ BYU in my book. There were 4 voters who had Stanford #1 last week, I was one of them along with huskerjen , and 5 voters this week went back to Stanford for probably the same reason you did. The Wisconsin #1 vote is a voter that has been voting since day 1 and I gave him sh*t the first time he did it in week 2 and then had to eat crow when Wisconsin beat Texas that week, but in week 3 poll he did not vote Wisconsin #1 coming off the Baylor defeat. Wisconsin was pretty much either #3 or #4 on 90% of the ballots and they did beat Marquette at Marquette so they are deserving of their top 5 ranking.

After getting smoked by Kentucky at home, -18, -13, -14, when I only have Kentucky at #22, I really didn't even consider them. I looked at 6 teams for my final two spots, went with LMU and Oregon State. And if LMU loses to Portland this weekend, I will likely replace LMU with Portland next week. Colorado State, ETSU, and Tennessee are on the radar for me, should others falter.
