I wish there were a ballot section on here to see how people’s rankings end up.

FYI I updated my first post (3rd post in the thread) with the comparison between the VT poll and the AVCA poll, as well as comparison between last week's VT poll and this week's VT poll.

This poll is so much better than the AVCA poll.

Great job as always, vbprisoner! Thanks for doing this! I had Northern Iowa at 25...should they also be listed as receiving at least 1 vote? It's to early in the season to pay much attention to the various polls. What DOES catch my attention is that undefeated BYU has only lost a measly four SETS thus far. With the brutal preseason schedule, Stanford lost 5 sets so far, 3 to BYU, 1 to Minnesota and 1 to Texas.

We'll have to figure something out going forward to appease the rest of VT.

Why? For accountability? To whom? It's an anonymous (for the most part) board. I just don't see the point. Ugh, people.

I mean I don’t think it would be so terrible to ask the voters for this poll to be as transparent as the ones for the AVCA. Those individual rankings are available to see. In any case, I come from a point of simple curiosity. It would make for good discussion

To see how close the masses come to the VT "chosen ones." LOL!
Although, I admit, it might end up a logistical nightmare.

POLL DIFFERENCES (AVCA vs VT):
There were 8 teams placed exactly the same in both polls. There were 6 teams that were 1 spot different. There were 3 teams that were 2-3 spots different.
There were 3 teams that were 4 spots different.
There were 5 teams that were 5 or more spots off (or off the Top 25 in both polls).

Louisville should not be ranked. Neither should San Diego.
BYU is my #1 until they lose. Period. If Stanford and BYU win out - BYU is #1, Stanford #2.

With the brutal preseason schedule, Stanford lost 5 sets so far, 3 to BYU, 1 to Minnesota and 1 to Texas. Love facts like this, both BYU losing only 4 sets so far this season (2 to Stanford) and Stanford losing only 5 (3 to BYU). Very impressive numbers given both of their schedules and truly even more impressive on Stanford's end. Having said that I still think BYU gets the #1 ranking due to head to head. It's ultimately the only fair assessment given all the variables and even if BYU goes undefeated competing in a less competitive conference both will most likely end up hosting and perhaps in the end get to settle the debate in the truest fashion, on the court. Thanks to all the VTers who take the time to do these rankings, lots of fun reading everyone's thoughts.

Question. How do teams like Creighton, Cal Poly and Marquette move up after this week? If the big money football schools are only playing other ranked schools in conference will they be penalized for losing in conference and move down to the teens"? For me - it is win and move up in the Pablo ranking. ... The same thing holds for BYU and Pittsburgh - where Pablo likes both teams. Their schedules are going to make it tougher for them to move up - but also easier to keep from falling.
The updated Pablo is now out: #1. Stanford #2. BYU Care to revisit your ranking?

I am glad we are not unanimous on #1. Both teams are deserving and have a case. BYU just won 60% of the points against Utah. I mean the exact same as Stanford vs. Howard earlier in the year. Also - BYU's Pablo rating improved - just that Stanford improved by more.

This was my submission:
1) Stanford 2) BYU 3) Wisconsin 4) Illinois 5) Nebraska 6) Penn State 7) Minnesota 8) Texas 9) Pittsburgh 10) USC 11) Florida 12) Michigan 13) Purdue 14) Oregon 15) Marquette 16) Creighton 17) Cal Poly 18) Washington 19) Portland 20) Kansas State 21) Kentucky 22) Colorado 23) Baylor 24) Arizona 25) UCLA
My fellow VT pollsters need not share their submissions. I feel I need to be accountable since I always complained about the AVCA poll.
People are sleeping on Portland and Kansas State. I didn't want to remove Wazzu from my top 25 but I feel the teams I have in my poll are better than they are right now. They are in my just missed list with a few other teams.
As for Stanford and BYU- Yes BYU beat the Cardinal but I believe Stanford is the best team in the country, they played a better non conference schedule than BYU did so I put them at the top.
