This was my submission: 1) Stanford 2) BYU 3) Wisconsin 4) Illinois 5) Nebraska 6) Penn State 7) Minnesota 8) Texas 9) Pittsburgh 10) USC 11) Florida 12) Michigan 13) Purdue 14) Oregon 15) Marquette 16) Creighton 17) Cal Poly 18) Washington 19) Portland 20) Kansas State 21) Kentucky 22) Colorado 23) Baylor 24) Arizona 25) UCLA My fellow VT pollsters need not share their submissions. I feel I need to be accountable since I always complained about the AVCA poll. People are sleeping on Portland and Kansas State. I didn't want to remove Wazzu from my top 25 but I feel the teams I have in my poll are better than they are right now. They are in my just missed list with a few other teams. As for Stanford and BYU- Yes BYU beat the Cardinal but I believe Stanford is the best team in the country, they played a better non conference schedule than BYU did so I put them at the top. [b What makes you think Illinois is a top 4 team?

I think accountability is great. I found it interesting that you put both Kansas State and Portland so high in the poll, two teams that beat Hawaii. I do agree with your assessment of Portland though in that people are sleeping on them. That is a good, fast, athletic team and I think they are the 2nd best team in the WCC right now. The match this weekend in Portland vs LMU will be interesting. I would be surprised if LMU wins there, it is a tough place to play. Either way, as I've mentioned before here, I appreciate all the time spent by the group that follows and ranks the teams here on VT. ,

Why is everyone disrespecting Illinois? It’s not like their schedule isn’t good. They have wins over Colorado State, Colorado, Washington, UNI, and Creighton those are all good teams. They should be higher until they rack up losses.

They should be higher until they rack up losses. Totally agree. As far as the RPI game goes, Tamas deserves the gold for his preseason. Those are solid non-con wins. They don't have an elite win on their resume yet, but soooo many RPI boosting wins. Locks for the scheduling bonus. They will have plenty of chances with half of the top 10 being from the B1G to get those elite wins.

1 BYU 2 Stanford 3 Penn St. 4 Illinois 5 Nebraska 6 Wisconsin 7 Texas 8 Pitt 9 Oregon 10 USC 11 Minnesota 12 Creighton 13 Michigan 14 Purdue 15 Cal Poly 16 Florida 17 Kentucky 18 UCLA 19 LMU 20 Washington 21 Washington St. 22 Kansas St. 23 Marquette 24 Colorado 25 Baylor
Here's mine. In retrospect I was probably too harsh on Marquette and Baylor and should at least reorder KState/Baylor/Marquette. LMU may be too high but I hadn't looked at their scores this weekend beyond knowing they didn't lose until after I submitted, those last few were tough so I was more focused on in/out.

If Campbell can continue to gain confidence, and if Hentz continues to read the game and react well, Stanford will just continue to improve. We already know what we can expect from the pins for the most part. IMO the biggest area of improvement that can occur for Stanford is in the middle (and floor defense but I thought the floor defense was great against Texas). They also need to work on consistency

Here's mine. Really, you can break this list into three tiers. I'm not overly committed to how those teams are ranked within the tiers; I just tried to use as much information as possible and make a call. I still haven't drilled down my logic.
The reason I continue to have Stanford over BYU is based on two criteria: Do I think BYU would beat Stanford in a 7 match series on a neutral court? Do I think BYU would have done as well against Stanford's schedule (including having to play at Stanford as opposed to at home) as Stanford has? The answer to both questions was "no". However, that's not a disrespect to BYU, they're great. I have no issue with anyone voting them #1.

I'm glad some people are showing Illinois some love. I really think they're deserving and will be tough this year.

At this point I think they're certainly far better than Penn State.

They’re undefeated and have a nice victory over a Creighton team that I like as well. I could also put Nebraska at 4 but I am willing to give Illinois the benefit of the doubt.

[b What makes you think Illinois is a top 4 team? What makes you think they’re not? The poll is a comparison between teams. Illinois is a talented team. I had them high in my original poll and moved them up when teams I had above them lost. I think I could switch out any team from 3 to 8 as they are all really close imho. The conference season will start to clear things up a bit.

Penn state hasn’t had a meaningful win yet and neither has Nebraska... Texas should’ve only dropped to 4 at most. I know two losses to Stanford don’t look good but Stanford is a top team. The other two ahead of them haven’t won meaningful matches so...
