Chase/Casey are out and Siedl/Waller advance (21-8, 21-17). Chaim/Theo are up next on court 2, and Billy/Miles will play on court 3 after Doppler/Horst's match.

When was the last time they competed? I feel like Casey is more into pickle ball than volleyball now. They served Chase the whole match and he just didn’t seem to be moving or jumping well at all. But Casey is coming off a knee injury too so who knows. It’ll be interesting to see how Chase/Troy do next week in Rwanda, assuming they don’t drop out.

Looks like there’s a rain delay in the middle of the Miles/Billy match.

Chaim/Theo make it through! They beat Israel in three (21-17, 18-21, 15-11) to advance.

Good read. Thanks for sharing! James Shaw is signed up for a couple 1*s with Kyle friend coming up. They are on the list for Slovenia and Bulgaria while the Olympics will be going on. Shaw said on Sandcast that he didn't originally plan on being in a position to make a run for Paris, but now that he is in the sand and competing with the top teams, he has moved his timeline up. Trying to get into a couple 1*s seems like a good place to start.

Pools are up! T2 are in pool C with Evandro/Bruno, and they will play the Grimalts first. Brazil has Berntsen/Mol in the first round out of the Q.
Chaim/Theo are in pool F and play Varenhorst/van de Velde in the first round. Fijalek/Bryl and Nõlvak/Tiisaar round out the pool.
It's strange to see Semenov/Leshukov as a 1 seed in their pool while Krasilnikov/Stoyanovskiy are not! Semenov/Leshukov are the 1 seed in a tough pool G with Brouwer/Meeuwsen, Herrera/Gavira, and Doppler/Horst (Q3). Krasilnikov/Stoyanovskiy, on the other hand, are the 2 seed in pool H, with Krattiger/Breer as the #1 host seed, along with Seidl/Waller (Q1), and Walkenhorst/Winter (Q2).
Side note: 6 of the top 8 qualifier seeds advanced through to the MD on both the men's and women's sides today. Bykanov/Likholetov from Russia (Q4) and Koekelkoren/Van Walle from Belgium (Q6) were the only ones who failed to make it out.

I think we have to get used to seeing only 2 men’s team in the MD of a 4* event…
Krasilnikov/Stoya have not proven anything so far this year in the past events. Leshukov/Semonov got the silver in Cancun 3. And then you look at Liamin who won bronze with Krasilnikov in 2017 WC and he’s in Q lol

USA needs new blood. I can't believe these old dudes are the current batch of USA teams battling the qualifiers on the FIVB tour. “New blood”? You mean inexperienced kids that make thousands of mental mistakes and can’t beat the old players? That “new blood”? Or, the ones that make a hundred unforced errors finishing 9th in AVP’s? Lol There’s nothing there. These kids aren’t all-in. They mentally think they are but they have no idea what sacrifice, hard work and being all-in even is. I see it every day. They are too busy playing 4’s for fun almost every day instead of working on fundamentals they lack. Okay, my rant is over but it’s ridiculous

Lol There’s nothing there. These kids aren’t all-in. They mentally think they are but they have no idea what sacrifice, hard work and bring all-in even is. I see it every day. Its really an indication of how far the US has dropped on the men's side. These guys are the current group of players that are battling it out in Q's. Chase - 33yo. Patterson - 41 yo, Theo - 36 yo, Chaim 35 yo, Miles 35 yo, and Billy 34 yo. These are the dudes that most of the time aren't even good enough to get out of the Q. This is where US is at right now on the mens side. None of these players I mentioned above will ever make an impact again on the FIVB. Does the rest of the WOrld have 25 and under players battling in the Q? I get the young players are not at a level to even compete in qualifiers. But let them go over and get their ass kicked by the World so maybe they start making the extra effort to be all in. What's US plan in the next 5 years on the men's side? 46 year old Patterson? C'mon already move on with those guys. They may be all in but they aren't going anywhere but downhill skill-wise and athleticism.
