Remember when...
We all here in the USA thought the top 20 teams on the AVP were better than everyone else in the world, except for possibly a few Brazilians?
And when some of those top Brazilians even left home to come play here in the USA on the famed AVP Tour?
Now, the top 1 or 2 American teams are struggling to be relevant.
Chase hasn't really shown he can be dominant domestically and one would wonder if he could do something internationally? Come on...
It's a whole new world and the US men will never regain their prominence unless they accept where they are now and make a plan on how to start over.

There needs to be a feeder program to get them started younger. It really hurts to not have college Beach volleyball. These players around the World are exposed to elite level training and playing when they are teenagers. They're being groomed and are growing up playing the sport. There is nothing for a kid in the US to take up Beach Volleyball anything less than the love for the game. The top level players aren't going to waste their time with them, the USAV doesn't give 2 cahoots about Beach Volleyball in terms of training resources, and there isn't even anything legitimate that's a considered a starting place for them. The high performance camps? Those are a joke.
We will likely never see US regain dominant level at the International level again, and you could argue we may not see an elite International team come out of the US in our lifetime again.

This is a legitimate question.... Is Ben Saxton that much of a better player than Theo considering Ben and Chaim had a good run there last couple years and were a formidable team even having a good run at the Olympics? No idea what kind of player Saxton is but I haven' really thought much on Chaim standing out since he has came over to the US. Even though Saxton is no world-beater he certainly was the stronger link of the Saxton/Schalk pairing. They were a pretty solid World Tour team in the mould of Herrera/Gavira or Doppler/Horst and ususally Saxton was the one who was responsible if they finished better than 9th in the big events. This is no knock on Chaim, but (at least to me) he doesn't have any particular weapon on World Tour level to take a team over the hump - however he also doesn't have any glaring weakness. But the way I see it, a good/great blocker can elevate a solid team by having a hot streak at the block - a good defender usually has more problems to overcome a weaker partner. Put any Russian defender behind Stoyanovski and the team will still be in contention for medals. Put Krasilnikov behind an average blocker and he will have a hard time getting out of pools.

Norway finishes 5th going down in straight sets to Russia. Probably coming back down on earth a bit or teams have figured out how to play against them? Because ever since Cancun, they haven’t reached the semifinals.

Evandro/Bruno vs Qatar was supposed to be happening now but there’s no score updates and Russia vs Poland are warming up on center court. Was there a forfeit or something?
Edit: Found the correct stream. Brazil won set one, Qatar leading in set two.

evandro can be the best player in the world but man does he do some stupid stuff Yes. That overhead dig at 19 all was so dumb. Ended up being a trap set that Bruno couldn’t do anything with. Then Bruno hits wide the next point. 21-19 Qatar in three. Qatar faces Russia 1 in the semis tomorrow.

Despite the loss, that’s probably the best we’ve seen Evandro/Bruno play this year. With a relatively weak pool, they should be considered serious medal contenders in Tokyo.

Yep, most teams go after Mol. He gets most of the praise, but Sorum is the better sideout player.

Krasilnikov will play his ex partner Liamin for bronze.
Young Dutchies are in the finals against Qatar, who are in their FIFTH final of the year in the 4* event.
