I know I sound like an old man, which I am becoming, but I don't like the intro video at the Wisconsin Field House. I think it sucks energy out of the crowd. When they can bring back the old school intros with the starters high fiving the line of kids and the band playing, that was better. I was always waiting for the video to end to get to that. The team will hopefully make more highlights once the match starts. I think the players really like making those video intros. They seem to like them, anyway.

Just to finish off the hijacking of this thread, the Jumbotron Video Boards are the equivalent of a group smart phone.
Sure there's a volleyball match and it's late in the set and close and intense, but, look! Up on that big screen! Flashing lights and colors and music, wheeeee!

IDK if this is trend around the arenas, but showing video during timeout of players not knowing things from the 90s needs to stop. calling VHS DVD?? it made me feel OLD when i'm still, in my point of view, young. It was clearly for comic relief. One of them thought the VHS tape was a "tape recorder".

5 sets of volleyball separated by just 1 point. Digs, assists & kills (and Drews) were the (very slim) difference for Utah. These are not the final numbers. Utah outscored Washington 111 to 106. That shows points scored by the respective teams. It doesn't include errors by the opposing team ( ie. ball handling errors, serving errors, block errors ). It also for doesn't include some hitting errors such as hitting errors that aren't blocked.

Can you provide UW passers' passing scores? Crenshaw - 63 attempts - 2.23 Drechsel - 19 attempts - 1.95 Hoffman - 10 attempts - 2.05 Bays - 9 attempts - 2.28 Team grade was a 2.16 and a 52.5% GP. Both were better than their season average. Who keeps these stats?

What is the deal with UW giving career nights to every OH they play. It seems they got away with it last year...but last night not so much. I am not saying that was a career night by Drews, but a very big number on kills.
I am also wondering if spreading the ball out so much is ideal. It seems to me if you have a hot hitter....keep feeding her. At times it seems we go away from a hot hitter to spread it out and it kills the momentum.

Last night she averaged 5.20 k/s, but had 11 hitting errors and hit .227, so 36 percentage points below what she had been hitting. Robinson hit .116. Weatherington hit .107. It was a very closely fought match which either team could have won.

It's a company called VolleyMetrics. Unfortunately, the stats aren't publicly available. Are they unavailable? Or is it just that it costs a lot of money to buy access to them? (In case that's not clear: "unavailable" means some random person can't buy them at any price.)

(In case that's not clear: "unavailable" means some random person can't buy them at any price.) They aren't publicly available as I said. You need to be a coach or something along those lines to be able to even buy access. As far as I'm aware. If that's incorrect (i.e. you can actually buy them even if you're just a fan of volleyball with no other connection to the game), then I will stand corrected.

WOW what a great finish to a great match! I was surprised that the Washington crowd was not more of a factor, looked like they were sitting for a majority of the game too. The student section was stuffed, due to some promotions (free t-shirts and food). The rest of the arena was so-so - regular fans might be unsure about the attendance requirements ( Vaccine Verification Beginning Sept. 25). It was a midweek match and on ESPNU. The students were fresh on campus, so many were probably seeing their first volleyball match. Utah is not a big rival, like Wassu, Oregon, Stanford, etc. Although the Pep Band was there (they weren't last weekend), there was only a skeleton cheerleading squad, with only five cheerleaders (and no yell-leaders), including a first (as far as I know) - a male cheerleader. They're also not switching sides, with the cheerleading squad also staying on the "home" end of the floor (leaving a lot of cheerers unled). One of the cheerleaders twisted her ankle and had to limp off the floor.

These quotes from Keegan are interesting. If I remember correctly, Marin had 4 kills in the first set. That doesn't sound like they didn't go to her early... Also, I didn't feel we had a good passing match. But according to the passing scores presented on this thread earlier, we did have a decent passing game this match. The problem might be that we weren't really able to set Sophie/Lauren S. in those three rotations. They only had combined 11 attempts in five sets... ( Marin had 16 kills in 27 attempts) I think EMP didn't have a good match delivering the ball. Some of the sets died to the outside and the location to the right side was all over the place. The set to Marin at 13-14 in the fifth set was too low and led to a hitting error from Marin.
