GAME ON. Get your match-faces on, kids! I predict Stanford will win in 4. Go Card! I called it, bigfan

Stanford dominated Cal in the serve pass game, passing a 2.29 on the match with the Bears at 1.94. Francis also did a good job of not taking bad swings. As she learns how to handle OOS balls she will carry more of the offense against tougher serving teams. I'd like to see Kipp get more control on her bic and limit the errors. She had 3 in Ro4 last night. It was the one sticky rotation for Stanford. Cal need to pass better. Stanford's serve game was pretty impressive last night from my courtside seat. For once, they kept their errors low and Kipp and Lougeay were wreaking havoc with their nasty floaters. I would agree that Cal doesn't appear to have a lot of serve receive talent on their back line. If memory serves correctly, I believe Kipp actually made a couple of good passes in very limited serve receive duty.

Just checked my DVR, and discovered that Pac-12 BA carried USC vs. UCLA instead of this match. WTF? That is odd. But you know what? We had 1,800 attendance. They had 6,600. They deserve to have their match aired! (I'm just trying to find somewhere to post that I'm impressed with their attendance last night, and disappointed with ours)

They didn’t give up, but as a fan, I wanted them to win. They may never be the same after Mirkovic leaves. Hopefully Pantovic can fill that void (she’s on concussion protocol right now) So did I! Mahalo for the news about Pantovic, and I hope she gets well soon. Grote was suited up yesterday along with Milli, Bellizzi, and frosh Ava Mehrten, although none of them entered the match. I believe Jade Blevins was not there. I re-watched last season's win against Stanford with former HC Rich Feller doing the telecast when he did mention that MB Grote likes to be play the opposite position.

It would be more accurate to say that Opp Grote is able to play MB. Lydia will be a very good Opp in the Pac if she can stay healthy.

I know they are just young ladies playing a game they love, and it should be fun. But I'd like to see more of those spirited talks. More seriousness. More intensity. More in-your-face aggression. Less giggly. Less timid. I can see that killer instinct in Baird most of the time. I'd like to see more of that.
I wonder what their practices are like. I get a feeling it's not a very high pressure, high intensity situation.

I’m not buying it. I’m glad that players smile and laugh. My problem was last night and in Kentucky is that they look big and slow. Still I liked seeing the hammers from Francis and Kipp and the tooling by Francis. Now, about the blocking…?

It is a bit frustrating sometimes watching the block and D after the 2016-2019 years. But hopefully with a little bit of patience and more practice/coaching/etc. it gets better. It’s still impressive that they can win in spite of some of the mess hehe

Just watching this game now, is it just the broadcast or were the Stanford pins hitting the ball as hard as it sounds like they were?

Just watching this game now, is it just the broadcast or were the Stanford pins hitting the ball as hard as it sounds like they were? The Maples Pavilion floor is soft, that's the only reason why a crew had to come in and work on the floor Thursday morning. It was simply a poor design to install such a soft floor.

I felt like it was sounding hard off the hand than just the floor, especially some of the swings Francis was taking. I’ll be honest at first i was like, oh great another tall girl with no power but was surprised about how hard the ball was sounding coming off her hand
