What is the point of the players waving to each other at the end of the match, but the coaches shaking hands? Are you trying to rationalize Covid policy? Here is my guess: 2 to 6 people shaking hands presents less overall risk than 2 teams of 15 to 20 SA's each slapping hands. Or the powers that be didn't want any inter-school contact, but the coaches wanted to shake hands (or at least some do) so they do it anyway. Kind of funny how the more at risk older folk shake hands, while the younger less vulnerable ones wave. Anyway I am just happy there have not been many Covid forfeitures (actually none I've heard of). In the small town I live in we had an outbreak a month ago, maybe 10% had it, no one got seriously ill though. Local hairdresser had it. A good percentage of folk exposed. No one wears masks, most socialize as usual with distancing for the vulnerable, not certain about vaccine percentage, most are likely vaccinated I believe, at least most of the older & vulnerable folk. I suspect the % vaccinated plus exposed with resistance is higher than some health officials realize, at least where I live.

Batenhorst has had multiple bad games in a row now, I don't know if you try to let her work out the kinks or consider starting Sun again. Sun hasn't been lights out, but as others said, she's never getting set in system at all. I mean Knuckles is getting more in-system sets than her during a match. Maybe Batenhorst needs a bit of time to build confidence without as much in-game pressure. Sometimes when your struggling, you just need to back off, get away from it, to be able to think thru your situation/problem. At least I do. Sun seems to me to be a bit tentative taking some heat off the ball, while Batenhorst seems to be hitting hard based on how hard her blocked shots come back, or so it seemed to me. Both are facing double blocks a lot and out of system sets, but so is Kubik, and Krause most of the time. Kind of goes with being a left side hitter.

Post Game Presser Kayla Caffey and Madi Kubik John Cook @ 11:05 What is the song and lyrics Coach Cook is referring to? I missed it during the game.

Were there some of the 22/23 recruits at the game?

Well we have a difference of opinion. I don't need Sun to match Kubik's offensive output. The point is if the only time you set a player is in difficult situations, you shouldn't be surprised when she starts to get tentative or struggles. Mix things up, feed her some actual nice one on ones as well and let her build her confidence back up as a hitter. She's a great athlete but the mental game is important. I don’t disagree, but as you said it’s mental for both her and team. If you take the average of what Sun has been career at Nebraska, they’re as good as anyone. Trust in her is definitely an issue. As I said a .220 Sun is all they need. Good points on both sides. In some senses it’s a bit of whether your looking at in terms of team or individual player (as gibbyb1 hinted).

Good ball control for Nebraska to get the amount of sets to the middles and right side that they did. Story of the match.

48 assists (12.00/set), 17 digs, three aces, three kills, three blocks. She had hitters with 15 (Kubik), 14 (Stivrins and Caffey), and 13 (Krause) kills. And she surpassed 4,000 assists. I wouldn’t be surprised to see Nicklin receive B1G Setter of the Week.
You can say all that you want about Nicklin (and a lot of you have), but the balanced offense she’s been running is a thing of beauty. Coaches would kill to have four players in double-digits against a solid defensive and top 10 team. And some of those plays she was making were stupid good - offensively and defensively.
If Lexi or Ally (or whoever) can consistently put pressure on a team’s defense and not give away points, then this team will be hard to stop the second half of conference - regardless of who the opponent is. I don’t think Nebraska needs another terminal outside right now - they just need someone who can continue to keep a defense on their toes.

Favorite JB of the night: She is no restaurant patron. She rarely tips. Thank you. I missed that JB quote. I like the hitters more than the restaurant patrons. The tips work occasionally but bombing away has more potential outcomes that are in favor of the Huskers. Good win last night. Our game is elevating and we look good.

Yah I thinking Lexi may get her starting spot back after tonight and hopefully she'll play a little better when she's not coming in off the bench. Also. I imagine she has low confidence after having her spot taken. So we'll see. Caffey is a beast! Very good point. I recall someone saying that they miss the old Lexi from last year. Of course we all miss that old Lexi who was confident and played more freely. It must have been so hard for Lexi to loose her starting spot to a freshman. She is resilient though and that's her strength. I hope after tonight she gained some confidence and begins to start playing like her old self but even more improved I hear what you are saying, but I am surprised that she did not come out super motivated to win her spot back. Edit: makes me think there maybe a common reason behind her losing her spotting spot and her tentative play since. Whatever, hope she gets going and back to previous playing level.
