Impressive showing by #22 Pepperdine in taking down #6 Minnesota.
BYU also beat (RV) Utah in 4.
Pepperdine, San Diego and BYU are setting themselves apart from the rest of the conference so far, and are proving to be a force to be reckoned with by power 5 teams.

At the Northern Colorado Classic, Santa Clara had a set point at 24-23 on Cal Poly in set one, but lost the next three points (starting with a service error) to lose 24-26. They also lost set two, 21-25. Currently leading 11-8 in set three. Julia Sangiacomo has 9 kills and Layla Truitt has 8 for the Broncos.
Pacific started play this mornign at the CSU Bakersfield tournament against the home team. They are currently down 13-18 in set one.
San Francisco is playing UC San Diego in the Thin Air Challenge at Air Force. They lead 21-11 in the set one.
That's probably all the updates I can do this morning.

Okay, quick update before I head out. Santa Clara, down 0-2 in the match, is down 19-21 to Cal Poly in the third. Not looking good for the Broncos.
UPDATE: Santa Clara lost 0-3 (24-26, 21-25, 21-25). Santa Clara drops to 3-7 on the year. Pacific lost set one, 16-25, to CSU Bakersfield. San Francisco coasted to a 25-15 set one win over UC San Diego. |

Quick Update:
Pacific lost set three, 22-25, trailed 20-23 in set four, yet just like they seemingly always do, they found a way to win set four in overtime 26-24, and push it to five sets. Up 8-4 in the fifth right now. Alex Edwards leads the Tigers with 14 kills (13-4-40, .225). Emily Van Groningen (8-0-12, .667) and Biamba Kabengele (9-1-14, .571) are both having nice matches.
Stats not working for San Fran match at the moment, but the Dons are down 6-8 in the fifth set, after taking a 2-0 lead in the match.

USF can't get a kill in this rotation. UC San Diego sharp RS kill. UC San Diego match point #1 up 15-14
Dons finally get a LS kill off the block. 15-15
UC San Diego LS hitting error. 16-15. Dons match point #4
UC San Diego RS attack off the block and down. 16s
USF LS kill off the defender. 17-16. Dons match point #5
UC San Diego LS kill off the block and down. 17s

Really hate to see the Dons miss out on five match points. Another tough five-set loss. Still 7-2 on the season and both losses have been five-setters that went overtime and in which they had match points.
Meanwhile, Pacific pulls out a five-set win at CSU Bakersfield, with a run-away 15-6 fifth set.

Pepperdine pulled out the 5-setter over Washington State. They lost some close sets, but came back from down 0-2 in the fifth to take the set 15-6, behind the arm of Meg Brown. Ahrens looked very good also. Picking up Riley Patterson as a libero after she had been an OH for Pacific is looking like a brilliant move.
LMU is in the first set vs Long Beach State. Close so far.
San Diego and UCLA are tied at 15 in the first set.

LMU squeaked out the first set over LBSU 26-24.
San Diego has a 22-21 lead on UCLA in the first set....San Diego takes the set 25-22.

USD up 2-0 on UCLA. 25-18 second set.

San Diego had a pretty easy sweep (-22, -18, -17), of a UCLA team which is not looking too hot this season. Go Toreros!
Lukes led USD with 17 kills at .412. Frohling had 11 kills at .360. Edwards had 9 kills at .222. UCLA had multiple hitters with 8/7/6 kills each.
LMU and LBSU are 1-1 and knotted at 20 in the third set...LMU now up 22-21

LMU hung on for a 3-1 win over LBSU. They are definitely the 4th best WCC team this season in what is proving to be a really strong conference.
