Note to posters: I will not be monitoring this thread during the match because I will be attending the match. My attention span is too short and I like to watch the coaches and team interact between points when I am at the game. Last year there was some nonsense on one of the threads that I started and I didn't know it until the next day - too late to ask someone to improve or go elsewhere. So, if people start having petty arguments or otherwise repeatedly post nonsense feel to ask them to stop so the rest can discuss the match in peace. I will post my comments after the match and read others remarks then. I always enjoy hearing what others had to say at the match.

you forgot about that thrilling 5 setter that sent Minnesota to the Elite 8? Gophers were down 6-2 in the fifth and were able to rip a 13-4 run to pull of the victory!!

I checked the box to refresh my memory. Rachel Kilkelly served 4 in a row as did Jenna Wenaas. Both are back to serve up some more. Go Gophers.

History Last year in preseason, Minnesota and Baylor met and Baylor won in 4 sets. Recap In post season, Minnesota won in 5 sets. RecapI very intrigued by this game. I think Baylor has a lot of figuring out to do even though they have talent. I think they really hurt at the outside position. Minnesota looks to be solid all the way around, excited to see how landfair bounces back. Minnesota fans what do y’all think? Your thread is too long to catch up on

Post by zero-rotation outside hitter on Aug 17, 2022 13:39:28 GMT -5
I'll be very interested to see who starts on the right side for Minnesota. Wenaas just seems like such a natural left side six-rotation hitter that it's difficult for me to picture her over there instead of Landfair, for example. But Wenaas listed on the team's website as Outside/Opposite, so at this point she seems the odds-on favorite for that position. I trust the coaching staff, however.
This weekend's scrimmage may shed some light on the likelihood of who'll go where.

I am intrigued to see how Wenaas is going to perform on the right pin... but Minnesota will have Landair & Wucherer on the left pin to make a pretty dynamic offense, along with new middles.. should be exciting!

This weekend's scrimmage may shed some light on the likelihood of who'll go where. Maybe they're thinking a few things: - Wucherer is already adjusting to college ball, so they don't want to put the pressure of adjusting to a new position and 'filling Samedy's shoes' on top of that -Shaffmaster is strongest setting to the left pin and Landfair is strongest hitting on the left, so they want to keep their most terminal hitter there as an outlet -Wenaas is probably our most versatile player all around, so they could be thinking she will adapt most easily. And she hit some D sets last season These are all just guesses because I also would have preferred Wenaas on the left and Wucherer on the right, but I could see the above as valid arguments for putting Wenaas at OPP

I also low key think Wenaas is a bit stronger/more comfortable at hitting out of system than Samedy was (don't come for me), so hopefully she can use that on the right like she did the left.

Why do people constantly quote the entire OP...I don't understand it. Please stop people! If there are changes that need to be made now there is a ridiculously large and inaccurate post.

Psst. The game is at 4 PM Central Daylight Time, or CDT. Standard time doesn’t happen until after Daylight Saving Time ends in November.
This endeth your daily pedantry from Rainbow.
