oooh! i forgot about continental cups because that's gone with indoor. thankfully the US will meet their quota and won't use the NORCECA bid, but which country could grab the bid? i don't think pavan/McBain could win right now but could possibly next year if they stay together. I think the real question is how will the Canadian Federation choose which team to send to the NORCECA Continental Cup next summer. By FIVB points? That seems pretty wide open at the moment. Pavan/McBain, Bukovec/Bansley, Harnett/Monkhouse, Marcelle/Belanger, even the McNamaras all have a decent shot. Maybe even a new team. Whichever team Canada sends would likely to be favored to win the Continental spot. Cuba’s team from Tokyo would probably be their strongest competitor if they’re still playing. FIVB points feels most likely, although they could also hold an Olympic trials. Either way, I would hope that they communicated their selection method to all the teams at the beginning of the quad and stick to it.

www.beachtourbc.com/vanopenIt looks like Mel and Brandie dropped out of this one (I could’ve sworn they were registered for it at some point?). Disappointing to not be able to watch them play at my local beach, but it’ll be a good time regardless. Predicting a Bukovec-Bansley vs Marcelle-Belanger women’s final? Also sticking with Schachter-Dearing vs Marshall-Vernon final, but Krause-Vigrass could shake things up too.

Still excited though to see the premier of Bukovec-Bansley. Will be there both Sat and Sunday. Hope to se you there!

Pavan/Bansley would have, by a good margin, the best chance of getting anything done in Paris. Compared to Bansley the other Canadian defenders are like children.

I don't think so, and after the Mel stories and how she handed the Sophie situation, Pavan as a partner just seems so unattractive and seemingly only considered for anyone because there isn't another option. www.cbc.ca/sports/olympics/summer/pavan-bansley-breakup-beach-volleyball-1.3746073

Is he committing to beach volleyball?

What are the Mel stories? Just what has come out that looks like subtweets or call backs of Mel/Brandie eating pizza where Pavan was particular about it, or how it was said that she had to stop following and/or block Mel on socials because Pavan didn't like how she used it or considered it immature, and the body language and writing on the wall when their coach left them among some other rumors. It just seems as if Pavan has a tough teammate reputation about her regardless of how good she might be.

I’ll try to catch a match or two of theirs this weekend. No idea if he’ll ever be with the men’s indoor national team again. Wish I knew the full story of why he suddenly dropped off the national team scene so soon while seemingly being a world class hitter (at times) and having tons of potential.

He played for Canada at the 2016 U19 Beach Worlds. If I remember right, he was a late replacement for an injured player.

Mark S. just said on the broadcast that Pavan/McBain were given the wildcard into the Montreal Elite 16 main draw.
