Congratulations to the Badgers for an exciting Final 4 season. I'll be in withdrawal for a while. Meanwhile, some questions:
Is the 6-2 dead at Wisconsin? Did anyone miss having a setter who can attack?
Is there any doubt why the Badgers lost two matches when Smrek was out?
How good will Smrek be next year with Charlie Feurbringer setting?
For that matter, how good will Booth and Crawford be next year with Feurbringer setting?
Does any one know if Robinson was fully healthy yesterday? Do we know what was wrong much of this year?
We have some defensive players in the 2024 recruiting class. Will they be able to shore up our back line? Will Orzol move back to the pin?

You might want to ask some of the 2024 questions on the 2024 thread. For the others, that might be too many questions for a depressed fan base

I'm proud of the 2023 badgers. Only one team can come out on top of more that 300. They had a bad night and those things happen. But they got through some tough periods this year and still won 30 matches. I believe Sarah when she says her NPOY award was a team award.
Not too happy Nebraska or Texas will get the final prize. They are trying to reassert their dominance. Trying to push the upstarts down. But it's a good challenge for the future that I know motivates Sheff and co.

All that height for what? Smh
your comment is very result-oriented. All the height made us the overwhelming favorite but that didn't stop a team from having a bad day. Is this the answer you're looking for?

No ofcourse not…to lose or have a bad game is one thing…that happens but to be dominated against a team youre better than in the FF is inexcusable…i guess it aint the size of the dog but the size of the heart in the dog

It happens when Team A is 50% and Team B is 120%.

Against Texas in the semifinals it did unfortunately That was down to passing. The badgers always play a read blocking system. Size comes into play if you first force few options on the other team, either through serving or in attack, so you can make reads and set up a big block that requires difficult swings to score. If the serving isn't up to snuff and the attacking is hampered by terrible passing, then it doesn't work. You can't set up a defense then and you can't make reads, leaving big seams or blockers one on one on attackers. They lost the serve receive game. That's the story of the match. Badgers still outblocked Texas 10-6 so the size still mattered. It just wasn't as critical. Unfortunately they also were in the net 4 times to 1. Blocking errors are historically really rare for the badgers, so that brings me back to the jumpiness factor. It's how they lost the husker match at the end of the key sets. Jumpiness factor was overall much worse against the horns for some reason affecting several aspects of play. Maybe it was the pressure of being favored? Who knows. The problem the badgers have to fix is the brittleness of the passing. They made strides, and sometimes it was great this year against very good serving, and sometimes it wasn't. Thursday was one of the latter. You can't get away with that in the final 4.

It's a small person who after winning feels it necessary to pile on. You have to hope your team does not have the same attitude or they will get wiped by the huskers.

I don't want to be in this profession if that's what it is and that's what our players are feeling. We don't talk about that. We talk about trying to play our best, trying to get better, be the best we can be, max out all those types of things. And hopefully along the way you're with people that you enjoy being around. There's a lot to celebrate, there's a lot to be proud of. It's a bittersweet moment because I know they thoroughly enjoyed playing with each other and for each other, and the fan base, and the University. But, you know, that's sports and they have nothing to hang their heads about. It was a great year and we wish we had a few more days with them, but that's the way it goes."
