I don’t see smu destroying Louisville unless there’s a major passing breakdown. Should be a really competitive match. Serve and pass will be what it comes down to between those two imo Realistically, Pitt has to have an off day for Louisville to win lol. They are better than us at pretty much everything. Need one of Babcock / stafford to have bad day and have to stay in system as much as possible, Pitts block and defense is too good for Louisville to be effective without holding their blockers a little bit ^ Pitt looks like the better team all around, and I agree we’re in trouble unless we can capitalize on one of their stars having a bad day. Luckily for us, these teams have a lot of history and there’s a chance emotions will be running very high. Last year’s matches were SPICY. And luckily both teams are mostly the same lineups, so the scouting report is there already. We gotta swing high on the blocks of VVG and Fairbanks, hope that Babcock’s incredible serve is off, and our block/floor D needs to be ready for Stafford. Frustrate them by keeping the ball up and we might have a shot. I agree. Hopefully we can lineup robins / cresse on stafford for the two rotations that they’re together. We’ll need Babcock to blow some serves and vvg or stafford to struggle passing. If Pitt fully shows up I fear there’s nothing Louisville can really do lol

Okay Cardnation, what does this team have to do or improve on in order to not be destroyed this week 😂 I like Louisville and have grown to be a fan of them but this is what I've noticed from a neutral standpoint 1.One of Louisville's biggest weakness is their serving game. They often allow teams to stay in-system but their strong defense in the front and back compensates for it. Improving serves could be crucial, and DBK has mentioned it's a focus. Last season, they led the ACC in aces, but now they're last, partly due to the absence of their best servers Aiko and Brigita. 2. They need to get Cara back to her offensive form. Her blocking has improved, but balancing both will be key to beating SMU and challenging Pitt. Also, they should run the middles like they did earlier in the season— idky that has slowed down lately. 3. Pitt had trouble with SMU's blocking, and its safe to say Louisville is currently the best blocking team in the country, could pose even more issues for them despite Pitt's physicality. Louisville's blocking is their strongest asset, and Pitt is surely preparing for it. 4. The setting needs to be less predictable: Im gonna give props to Glock and Nayelis for improving in that area honestly in recent weeks have done an amazing job, but they need a little bit more improvement.

I've noticed there's a lot of serve receive pressure on Scott this season, and I’m glad DBK has put Kamden in to relieve it. Even though DeBeer and Charitie have improved their passing, Scott often takes serves she shouldn't be taking, which is reflected in her low passing numbers. 6. The most important factor, in my opinion, is that both DeBeer and Luper need to have good days simultaneously. I've noticed that when DeBeer is off, Luper tends to do well, and vice versa. They both need to be efficient together to lighten the load for the other hitter. Overall Louisville's biggest weaknesses are serving and the both outside hitters' offensive efficiency. I predict they’ll beat Pitt once, maybe twice you never know, whether in the regular season or possibly the tournament. Louisville seems driven for revenge after losing to Pitt twice and especially with the ways they lost. If they do end up losing on friday, they will be hungry for a win at the Yum. And also to maintain the top 4 seed but i have a feeling they would end up being the 3rd instead of 4th

How are we feeling?? Idk i think refs may have impacted this win a little just a little Louisville showed they sure as hell don't fear Pitt and should be contenders to get to another final four and possibly win it all. They have been improving these last several weeks and it showed. I wish more teams had their backbone. Too many teams wave the white flag against Pitt at the first sign of adversity. Not louisville, they would rather throw some haymakers and fight back. SMU match will be big.

My guess right now is a 3-1 win against SMU (we drop either Set 1 or Set 3) and a 1-3 or 2-3 loss to Pitt. Called it (except it was Set 2 we dropped to SMU not the first or third lol). I’m really impressed with the strides this team has made. Beating SMU and holding our own in that fiesty Pitt match is a great sign. If we keep winning the matches we’re supposed to win, we have a regional host spot on lock. Go Cards!

was looking into the future of the Cards, considering we lose a lot but i think there is a 70% chance that Chloe Meester will be a true freshman. She’s too damn good… and tall 6’2

Forgot to put this in here the day of, but I’m so impressed with Peterson’s serve receive, but also kinda not shocked because doesn’t she have like two D1 libero sisters ?
Anywho, she def needs to be used if Luper or Debeer start struggling in serve receive out of the backrow again over any ds for Louisville.

Tonight seems like a fantastic night for our regional hosting chances.
Stanford upset by Miami, Texas upset by Missouri, and Wisconsin losing to Nebraska like we did.
Our RPI is currently at 1, we played the toughest schedule, we have direct wins over Creighton, Stanford, and Wisconsin, and we have no bad losses rn - our only losses so far are to the current #’s 1, 2, and 3, and only one of those losses was at home. I think we end up in the top 4 in most/all of the committee’s criteria.
Just gotta finish strong in the rest of ACC play - that last week vs Pitt then at Stanford is brutal.
