Vieira/Chamereau just forfeited to Placette/Richard. That seems to provide evidence that the French will still get a host country spot if FRA1 qualifies via points. Does seem awfully dodgy. sure, speculation. Let's see what happens in the loser's game in their Pool.

Hey, what's the over/under on the number of forfeits among the 6 Pool winner/winner matches? I'm at 4.
So I hope all my favorite teams lose first game and have to play second game... get to see them twice.

Nice win for the sisters Klinger. They are right in the middle of the race for spot 18 in the Paris qualifying. Their primary competitors for that spot, are LTU, CAN2, THA, FIN, CZE, POL -- LTU which is in spot 17 20 points ahead of CAN2, eliminated in qualis. POL is also eliminated in Qualis. CAN2, CZE, FIN and THA all sent to Pool losers game and are at risk.
Of those 7 teams fighting for Olympic spots 17 and 18, only AUT is in Pool winner's game.
Big opportunity for AUT to finish high in this tourney and close the gap to LTU, passing THA, FIN, CZE. I don't really think CAN2 is at risk, assuming no injuries. As an Austrian I do watch the Klingers quite a bit and they seemed to have mad a step forward in the offseason. They play some good beach volleyball and can also trouble higher ranked teams on their day. The gap to Lithuania is quite big point wise, so they really would need to get some good results in the Elite 16 events. But it seems like that they will have a way better chance for 2028. They also play quite modern with some quick sets, overhead sets and even topspin jump serves.

Hey, what's the over/under on the number of forfeits among the 6 Pool winner/winner matches? I'm at 4. that didn't age well. All the women, and now the men are actually playing the winner/winner Pool game.

I’ll take the under. Call me optimistic. you win. It’s not over yet, though with two us men’s teams in elimination matches I think the odds definitely tip against forfeits.

I think we already have the answer from the FIVB... If FRA1 enters the top18, FRA2 will have a WC to Paris2024... Obviously, FRA2 does not play against FRA1 to classify it directly to the round of 16 and they will already score points in this tournament ... What will the Lithuanians. Finnish and Czechs think? ... Surely it is very unsportsmanlike

Good win for CAN3. CAN2 in do or die match. Pavan with her left knee wrapped up. That might explain the withdrawals from the past two events.

Wow. McCain can’t buy a sideout right now. Rough start. Whew. Down one match point in the second McBain comes up with a couple digs and Sarah sends us to three with an option pokey!!
