Nice new venue. Great atmosphere. Let's see how NW works it this year. Big 10 is stacked. Don't expect too much right away. It's going to take time to make up any ground in this brutal conference.

They're getting a big 2026 class, hopefully it shapes up to be a quality one

Nice new venue. Great atmosphere. Let's see how NW works it this year. Big 10 is stacked. Don't expect too much right away. It's going to take time to make up any ground in this brutal conference. Definitely an uphill climb with the B1G getting 4 teams tougher. But I would bet on Nollan to pull pieces together and overachieve (vs. always-underachieving Davis). Likely starters: O1 Buse Hazan 02 Rachel Johnson or Ava Pratt M1 Kennedy Hill M2 Sophia Summers S Alexa Rousseau Opp Kathryn Randorf Libero Gigi Navarette DS Drew Wright The 2026 class is big and it appears Nollan and staff have landed size and athleticism. 26 - Kaitlyn Bodnar | 5'8 | S | VC Nebraska - Noordermeer will be a R-Sr in '26 so this addition could allow Stiernagle to redshirt and have 4 full years as starter; Bodnar is undersized but strong defensively, had nice delivery, and is a competitor 26- Simone Huarte | 6'2 | OH | SynergyForce - tall and with a big jump, this is a nice assiteion to the pins 26 - Hayley Schaaf | 6'3 | MB | Athena VB Academy - plays high above the net and moves quickly; the M1 of the future 26- Clara Schramm | 6'2 | OH/Opp | Arizona Sky Volleyball - jumps well and hits a heavy ball; a Randorf-type 26- Ellie Stiernagle | 6'1 | S | Sports Performance - the setter of the future; great size, hands, delivery 26- Maya Stillwell | 6'4 | MB | SCVC - a true 6'4, could be 6'5 to 6'6 in 2 years; needs to add strength 25- Kayla Kauffman | 6'1 | MB | NORCO - athletic middle who flipped from GCU (where Nollan was previously); gives them a critical middle for 2025, but see her more as a backup/utility player 25 - Bella Bullington | 6'2 | OH | Sports Performance - the only 25 recruit to stay committed; could be a 4-year starter Key questions: - will Nollan get a MB transfer for 25 for depth and to keep them competitive? Sophia Summers *might* have an extra year but odds are this is 1 and done. 24 is VERY think with no other middles - will any 2025s flip from a current school to NU? - will Nollan take any more 2026ers? Seems they could use a libero since the core of their back row will be seniors in '26 - what will 2027 look like in terms o numbers and positions needed?

Hmmm. Barely played at any of her stops Gotta have bodies. Exactly. It will be Kennedy and Sophia in the middle, and she'll be a 1-year backup.

Some bad losses to start the season, I’m starting to get concerned with how our schedule isn’t going to get any easier.
I feel bad for Alexa, she came in and was surrounded with a lot of talent to start, and it just doesn’t seem like there are any other Big Ten caliber players are with her now.

They will be playing 2 games against Notre Dame this week. Should be fairly even matches, and hope they win at least one of them. Buse Hazan is a good OH1 (a little undersized, but hits well); however, they don't have a reliable OH2 (Lily and Rylen are hitting 0.049 and 0.011, respectively). Look forward to see how they fare in the Big Ten against other mid-tier teams.

Hey Northwestern fans! Here's Sunday's Northwestern vs Illinois match thread: For anyone making the trip to Champaign, there's gameday information and links on the second post that could be helpful. If anyone would like local recommendations for food, etc, feel free to hit me up or post in the match thread. I know there are a few of us locals among Illinois VT.

NU's record isn't great, but the season doesn't seem that terrible given all the change.
